woodchux
Absolutely "new" to scrollsawing, but received a scrollsaw from another generation. The saw is a Hawk model 426 - still in the cardboard box, probably 15 years old, but in new condition (never set up or used). Don't know its worth, if it works, or how it compares to other scrollsaws. Any info would be appreciated.
Dan
Charles, welcome to The Village. You have a very good saw, one that should last a good, long time. There is a lot of info here and on several other sites that will help. By best piece of advice is to keep coming here, ask questions, and share your thoughts and photos of your work. WayneMahler
Welcome to the village Charles. What a great thing to receive. Set it up and play with it. Check out the forums here, and ask any question you may have. There is a wealth of information and experience here at the village to draw from. Ask questions and learn as you go. The best thing I think you can do it set it up. Play with it, then decide if scrolling is for you. You will get the opportunity to start out one one of the top saws. woodchux
Many "Thanks" for the warm friendly welcome to this forum! Still at the first stages, taking scrollsaw notes on both the Hawk saw (assembly, blade type/use, etc.) and the information available from forum members. Also looking for easy project patterns in magazines, books & best wood to practice, practice, practice on. Thanks again, and be safe. spirithorse
Congratulations!I'd like to own a Hawk. Different people learn differently. If I had picked easy patterns early, I would have gotten bored and given up. On the other hand, If I had picked really hard patterns, I may have gotten frustrated. Just challenge yourself a little and enjoy that feeling from completing a nice project and be sure to show us some photos of your work. You'll get lots of encouragement and maybe some HELPFUL criticism to guide you but, never any bad remarks. God Bless! Spirithorse
