heppnerguy Posted July 18, 2016 Report Posted July 18, 2016 I have a long time friend that is going to have a birthday next month so I decided to make him something. I started going through my patterns and found this JGR pattern that I purchased some time back but had never made. I chose that one because i not only liked the pattern but just because I had not attempted to make it before now. so here is the results. The good news from Heppner is, my eldest daughter decided she wanted to get into scrolling and intarsia so she made her first piece and has started her second one. when she has them finished, I hope to get her involved in SSV and get to know all you wonderful people here Dick heppnerguy Lucky2, amazingkevin and Fish 3 Quote

meflick Posted July 19, 2016 Report Posted July 19, 2016 Looks great Dick and sure your friend will love it. I love all of Judy Gale Robert's patterns. I have a couple of her books and some of Kathy Wise that I have been working through. I took JGR's Beginner class in May and thanks to the class discount, added several of her patterns to my stash for trying. I mainly tried to stick with her beginner patterns but some I loved will have to wait on my skill level to improve. So glad to hear your daughter is getting interested and trying out Intarsia work. Tell her to come join this newbie here on the forum and she and I can learn together. Thanks for sharing your photo here. heppnerguy 1 Quote
Scrappile Posted July 19, 2016 Report Posted July 19, 2016 Another great piece, Dick. The other way around for me. My daughter use to work a "second job" other than her main job. She worked for a guy that sold items to hobby shops to resale, like the scrolled plywood flags that you can buy and then paint or decorate. LIttle stars, all kinds of little plywood things you see a hobby stores to buy and decorate. She was a great scroller and always talked about it. Got my interest so I got a scroll saw. Then I got sidetracked for several years before I go around to working with it. Now I scroll and she doesn't. Hope your daughter joins us here. heppnerguy 1 Quote
Lucky2 Posted July 19, 2016 Report Posted July 19, 2016 Dick, you have a very fortunate friend, I would love to own this piece. You did a fantastic job mating up all of the pieces, and the colors are right on. Len heppnerguy 1 Quote
