Really it depends if the glass fits or not. It's nice for keeping the dust out if there's room for it. Lately I've been making my own frames from baseboard and putting thin plexy in front.

When you do portraits do you normally put glass in the frame or not. I have seen it both ways, so just wondering what everyone else thinks.

Thanks so much.

I'm thinking that fret work is a magnet for dust.I like the bare look myself You can see the portrait much clearer with out glare too.

Eddie, it's just a matter of choice. Some people use glass on all of their portrait cuttings, others wouldn't use no matter what. Personally, I've used glass on a few of mine, but, I don't use it on many of my pieces.

I think it comes down to project dependant. Some portraits I do with glass others I don't. Granted the glass protects against dust etc, but some look better exposed. I guess as we do our work, we decide on our personal preferance to the project at hand. Wish I could give a better answer but just being honest.

Thanks to everyone, I really appreciate all the comments. So far all mine have been glass, I make my own frames then buy cheap frames ( $1.00 ) from Dollar Tree and use that glass.

Again thanks a bunch.
