How to seal a photo puzzle?

Hi Michael, I have only done acouple puzzles myself. But one was a photo and i just sprayed clear acryllic spray over it. I've heard others say something about a spray called triple thick glaze ( i think that the name) Its by Krylon. I would spray the puzzle before cutting, to avoid "sealing" the pieces back together. hopefully this is a little help. Someone with more experience with puzzles will chime in.

Hi Michael and welcome to the village. Yes, definitely seal before you cut. I have used Krylon's Triple Thick Glaze and like the way it comes out. Other have used Modge Podge and yet others have used the glaze over the podge. I think it's preference. I don't concider myself a puzzle-head but there are a few here. I will say this, throw away any pattern for cutting jigsaw puzzles. It is so easy to just free-hand it. You can practice on some small cards.

Oh, since you said you've been scrolling for years, show us some pictures! :D

Yeah! more pictures i love looking at other peoples work ,no matter how bad it makes me look .Gives me inspiration to someday get there too.A real tough and durable walk on sealer i use on my keychains and puzzles when i run out of spray, 2x clear by rust oleum is, concrete sealer. it's crystal clear and drys very fast.Comes in a 5 gallon bucket and should last you a life time.Spray cans are real convienient but don't last long when you try to build up the thickness. The seal (concrete) is scratch proof too!It has a very strong smell to it and you may not like it .I pour it on a puzzle that is level and let it run off the elevated puzzle, let it dry, belt sand the bottom of the puzzle and cut out the pieces. It resembles the epoxy coated restaurant tables that have coins or articules embeded in the epoxy.Probably 50 coats in one pour on application, beautyfull shine and looks like plasic.Hope this helps . :)

Michael if your using a photo that was processed at the store there is no real need to seal the photo. If you using your own inkjet to print your photos then definitely seal the photo. As Dan said use Krylon triple thick spray. Any triple thick will work but Krylons is probally the best out there right now. Also would recommend using a matte finish. If you use a gloss finish you will get a really bad glare that can be irritating.

Good Luck
