Popular Post hawkeye10
I make wood signs by carving them out with a router. As a lot of you do I get by patterns from the internet and need to cut the excess paper off before I glue it to the wood. I saw this simple tool on the net the other day and I made me one and it works great. I also use it to cut sheets of sand paper into smaller pieces. It's just a hacksaw blade [24 TPI" works best screwed to a board. Be sure and put a flat washer between the board and the hacksaw blade so you will be able to get you pattern or your sheet of sand paper under the blade. Once you get what you are going to cut in place hold the blade down with one hand and tear away with the other. Use the side that has teeth to tear sand paper and the other side to tear paper. Here is an example of one of the signs I have made. NC Scroller, lonewolf, DeenaKay and 7 others

Old Joe
I really like this idea. If it works as well as it looks like it will I may mount a board on one of my benches and have this as a permanent fixture in my shop.

kywoodmaster
I can see that becoming a permanent attachment to my scroll bench. Thanks for the tip.
Old Joe
I have one of my benches set up with a plywood pullout shelf.I mounted the blade directly on the plywood, over to one side, where it is not in the way. It works great! My little shop, like many of you, is like living on a ship. Everything has its place and every nook and cranny gets utilized. This takes up less space than a pair of scissors hanging on a nail! Thanks, Hawkeye!
