I saturated myself on pens.  I only make one or two a year now for special occasions.  I like to turn things like little parts for wood models and toys.  When I was really into pen making the hardware was pretty cheap.  Now days it get rather expensive.

I do Rusty, but,I haven't turned anything for a while now. I should get back to it though, I have over a hundred pen kits and blanks on hand. I quit turning them for a while, simply because they weren't selling. The last few items I've turned, was a few small bowls.

I turn occasionally now as I like to say I have run out of friends.  I am not up to trying to sell stuff as it sounds too much like work.

I have a few bowls roughed out waiting for the spirit to move me.

I do a few pens each year for "Pens for Canadian Peacekeepers" and when I want to keep my skills up I turn a Wigs Stands for Cancer patients.

I find the Wig Stands very fulfilling to do.  It is like doing a bowl, platter and spindle in one.

Hey Rusty

I also turn when the mood strikes me.  Like the others its been a while.  I have a few plates that are roughed out and need finishing.

Also a couple of urns that need to be finished. Now days when the mood strikes I hit the lathe and make saw dust. They seem to be

further apart than they use to.

Have a blessed day

Steve, what brand of lathe do you intend to get? If you're just starting out, Benjamin's Best are descent tools to start out with. They're not top of the line, but they do a good job as long as you keep them sharp.
