Bad news!

My Dewalt 788 that I bought on Ebay finally got to Murfreesboro Tn. where I live and it was recalled by the sender (seller). I sure don't understand some people. This country is full of lairs and cheats. I am sure you have heard a lot about that.   Since I can't get an EX that leaves Jet which cost $990 with stand shipped and a Dewalt for about $550 shipped with out stand. I have also heard that the Delta is a close copy of the Dewalt but I don't know. I like the Jet but the cost is high. I would appreciate your opinions.

Be sure and notify Ebay about your problem with this seller.  That is the only way to get rid of the bad ones.  I have never seen the Delta, but have read good about it on here, or why not buy a new Dewalt if that is what you want?  They are around $500, cheaper than a Ex or Jet.  My real first scroll saw was a refurbished Dewalt I paid around <$400 for.  Never had a problem with it.

Hawkeye, I'll bring you a Dewalt to use until the EX manufacturing catches up in Dec.  If you happen to have a pickup, I'll have you drive down and get it so we don't have to take the stand off.

I would never go with a bottom feeding saw like the Jet unless you really want to do that. After using the 788, you might like it and decide to purchase that new instead.

There is also an ex21 in Goodlettsville (Craiglist) for $700.  If he would come down to $500 or so, that might be a good deal if it has low usage.  Brand new DW788  in Morristown (Craigslist) in unopened box for $300 which is a steal, but long drive unless they would ship.

I bought a Delta clone of the 788 about a year and ahalf ago and I love it.  I paid 399 for it from Amazon and had free shipping  My DIL is now using it and is very proficient with it.  She stack cuts ornament and portraits but ot my knowledge she has not tried 3D yet. She lives in Florida and I in South Dakota.  However, I am in the process of moving to Florida and I suppose that I will have to fight for time on the saw.  LOL.  Maybe a 2nd saw is in order.  One can only hope.  Silver Sliver

Hawkeye, found you a EX-16 if you want it, call Woodcraft in Franklin and have them hold it for you.  Probably the last one until Dec.  This is the one I would buy if I were doing it again.

Thanks Randy I just got back home from Woodcraft and I bought the 788. I did see the EX-16 but went with the 788 on the advice of a nice lady named Judy.

I do appreciate you offering to lone me your saw but this was a pretty good deal I thought.

Don, I don't understand how they could have the saw returned to themselves, it's not legal to do that around here. Once the item is received and weighed, tagged and paid for, it becomes the property of the person it was to be shipped to. What is even stranger about this, is that the item arrived at its destination. How was this saw supposed to be shipped, courier or post office? Who was it that told you it arrived in Murfreesboro, they should be able to tell you the reason for the recall. It's great that you got a new saw, hopefully, you will get your money back from the shipper without to many issues.

Len the shipper was UPS and I found out about it being sent back by looking at tracking. I don't think UPS has a clue why they sent it back. They just do what the shipper wants.  ((I am guessing))
