JTTHECLOCKMAN
Just got an ad for the new jet scroll saw and I was wondering if anyone owns one or tested one and what your view of it is??? It is the Jet JW22-22. Looks like a knock off of the Excaliber with a little Dewalt thrown in. Thanks.

Paladin
I love mine. Posted a more in-depth review in an earlier post. Steve
hawkeye10
I almost bought one but the price tag was twice what I paid for my 788. I have bought cheaper before and was sorry later.
hotshot
Ultimately, I don't think anyone that top feeds on an EX would ever be happy with this, especially for those that do a lot of fretwork. For them, it would be a major downgrade. For those that prefer bottom feeding however, this is great. I'm getting too old to try to look under a piece to feed the blade up through it. It's nice to have choices for those that like this approach, but for me, I would never buy it. It is basically because of those type blade clamps used underneath. That was part of the ad that I saw was that video. She was honest. Lucky2
Personally, I'll never own one, for the same reason I'll never own a Hegner saw. I don't like the lower blade clamps, they're just something that I would be forever misplacing. I watched the video and saw how Carole changed the blade, it takes longer to change it on the new Jet then on the EX. I like the EX that I own, and I don't see any improvements on this saw that would make me change my mind. Len
WayneMahler
I have an EX-21 and love top feeding. Although it has it's merits I enjoy top feeding. I will sat it is a very interesting machine and worth looking into.

Kepy
That lower blade clamp and bottom feeding is a turn off for me. I have gotten so used to top feeding that anything else would be difficult.
Sparkey
I am a bottom feeder so that wouldn't bother me. I'm skeptical about the top blade clamp grabbing the blade and tensioning with just the flip of one lever. Not sure how long that would last. Denny Knappen
I also feed from the top, so I would not be interested. The top tensioner is the same as the EX21 and works great.
bandaideman
I have a dewalt now that may have an over heating motor. Not sure yet but the motor is $248 dollars and I got the saw on sale at Rockler for 300 so in needed will have to think on that. The ex-21 has been good but I have not been completely pleased having to replace a part which was sent to me from Seyco to replace no charge and having to replace the tension lever x 3 and the blade holders now it is making and noise when seems strained. I hope they both continue but if not will have to consider not scrowling with the cost of good saws. If replaced may serious look at Jet but then the price is same as Ex but Know the service on it is good freindly and quick Jet still needs to be around to see the bugs and service. I do prefer top feeding but not too old to learn new tricks.
JTTHECLOCKMAN
I am a bottom feeder and never had a problem. I can do it just as fast and as easy as a top feeder. Just a matter of what you get use to and use every day. I am an RBI man and my go to saw is the RBI Hawk 220. I own a 226, A delta 788. a Hegner16" I believe the Jet will come down in price somewhat and settle in the $700 range. I believe they will run sales on it to promote it more. That lower clamp looks like a problem because it is not something you can do while sitting at the saw very easily. Changing blades should be an easy thing.
