Dave Monk Posted September 8, 2016 Report Posted September 8, 2016 The one without the names I used some stain. Which one do you like best? dave Lucky2 and Falcon 2 Quote

Falcon Posted September 8, 2016 Report Posted September 8, 2016 We all have different opinions. I like the one stained it brings out the eyes. vykus and Dave Monk 2 Quote
Denny Knappen Posted September 8, 2016 Report Posted September 8, 2016 Very nice, Dave. I like the one with the names. Quote
Debi Shipman Posted September 8, 2016 Report Posted September 8, 2016 I like the stain. It makes the black cat look great. The white is too bright. Quote
Ron Johnson Posted September 8, 2016 Report Posted September 8, 2016 Both are very nice Dave, but I prefer the one stained. Well done. Quote
WayneMahler Posted September 8, 2016 Report Posted September 8, 2016 Both are well done. I like the names . Quote
meflick Posted September 8, 2016 Report Posted September 8, 2016 Another vote for with the names. Stain adds a subtle difference on the "finish" but the names make it personalized and people always like personalized. Can the one with names be stained. Quote
Dave Monk Posted September 9, 2016 Author Report Posted September 9, 2016 Looks like about a split preference. Thanks for your opinions. I think I will email both pictures to the lady I'm doing it for and let her decide. A couple weeks ago I showed my pattern here and someone made the commernt that the black cat looked like a skunk.(LOL) I definately don't want that so I did a bunch more work on the pattern. I went ahead and stack cut two and decided to try a bit of stain on the extra copy just to see how it would look. dave Quote
meflick Posted September 9, 2016 Report Posted September 9, 2016 Since you have them both cut, always a wise choice to let the customer decide. She might decide to take both. Dave Monk 1 Quote
Rockytime Posted September 9, 2016 Report Posted September 9, 2016 I think both are great but lean toward the one with names. Actually I like the third photo. Love the cats. Dave Monk 1 Quote
Lucky2 Posted September 9, 2016 Report Posted September 9, 2016 Dave, as far as I'm concerned, both pieces look great. I just read your second reply in this posting, if I were you, I wouldn't give the customer a choice. Isn't the one with the names cut out, the names of her cats. If it is,then that is the one you should send her a picture of. Who else do you know with cats, that have named their cats by the same names. The one with no names could be sold to almost anyone, not the one with names. Len Quote
Dave Monk Posted September 9, 2016 Author Report Posted September 9, 2016 Len, I already emailed her the pictures. She will get the one with the names on it but I wanted to give her the option for me to go ahead and stain it if she would like. I always make more than one even if it is a special order. I like to use them as samples, and like you say I can go ahead and sell it. dave Quote

Dave Monk Posted September 12, 2016 Author Report Posted September 12, 2016 (edited) Melanie, She really couldn't decide which one she liked best so she wanted both of them. I should have stack cut more than two because I really wanted to keep one. She picked them up Saturday and was totally delighted. I hadn't mensioned the Henry was deceased. Now she wants me to do he deceased dog. dave Edited September 12, 2016 by Dave Monk Quote
meflick Posted September 12, 2016 Report Posted September 12, 2016 Isn't that how it usually goes - you plan on keeping one to "show" and they want them both! Glad she liked them and wanted them both. Clearly she loved your work since she now wants you to do the deceased dog. Sounds like a happy and repeat customer. Cant beat that. Congratulations. Quote
