Popular Post Scrappile Posted September 15, 2016 Popular Post Report Posted September 15, 2016 I can't keep up with Dick, but I do sneak to the scrollsaw once and a while when my wife leaves. She has me painting the interior of the house. Don't know why there was still some paint left on the walls. Anyway, this is what I have been working on. Finished cutting it this evening, but can't finish until I order some lights to add to it. This is a Volkner pattern. I order several of his pattern books, hope to get to them eventually. I found this to be very fun to scroll, and put together. Can't wait to get lights and hook them in. I think it will look great on my Daughter's fireplace mantel this holiday season and my Grandson should enjoy it. 125 CSL, GPscroller, Sparkey and 10 others 13 Quote

Scrappile Posted September 15, 2016 Author Report Posted September 15, 2016 I see the use of 0/3 spiral blades used for this one Dick heppnerguy I only used them in snow outlines going down the mountain. The rest of the time I used the 2/0 PS (Penguin Silver) blade. I really like that blade. Really like to come over, but things are busy right now. Two trips to Portland yet this month and a trip to Memphis next month. Plus my house is all tore up getting painted inside and refinishing the baseboards and such. I want to work in a trip to your place some how. heppnerguy and amazingkevin 2 Quote
Lucky2 Posted September 15, 2016 Report Posted September 15, 2016 Paul, it's an outstanding cutting, these are the types of things I like to cut. Have you ever seen Volker's Christmas Nativity Scene pattern, it's the same type as this but it has five layers. I've cut it a few times already, and may end up cutting a few more. I buy the lights I use on them at the dollar store, and I use rechargeable batteries to light up the lights. The led light sets use so little amount of energy, that I only have to recharge them about every 4-5 days. If you have the back issues of CWWC, then you have a copy of the pattern. It's a very enjoyable project to cut, and the outcome will surprise and please you. Len P.S. Everyone who sees the nativity scene, wants one. It's a pattern you should look up, you won't be sorry you did. Scrappile 1 Quote
Lucky2 Posted September 15, 2016 Report Posted September 15, 2016 (edited) Paul, do you purchase your Volker patterns from his site, or, do you purchase them from Kyle Shaffer in the states? I was going to buy a lot of Volkers patterns from Kyle, but, the exchange on the dollar has changed my mind. I waited to long, I should have bought them when the dollar was at par, or close to it. For every $100.00 U.S. I spend it costs me $135.00 Can, that's just a bit much for me. Another source for this type of patterns, is Helmut who is a member here. Did you check out his site, he has a lot of them and they're good looking patterns. Len Edited September 15, 2016 by Lucky2 Scrappile 1 Quote

Scrappile Posted September 15, 2016 Author Report Posted September 15, 2016 (edited) Thank you all for the nice comments. Making this turned out to be really fun and rewarding. People that saw it while I was cutting it kinda shrugged their shoulders and softly said "that's cool". When I got done and showed them a picture it was "WOW that is really cool"... that kind of thing. The lights will really add to it. I bought them several months ago. I got the books 15, 16, 17 package. Really hard to decide which to buy. It does have the "Nativity Pyramid" in it is that the one you did? WayneMahler Posted September 15, 2016 Report Posted September 15, 2016 Paul Great job cutting that. I love these things. The wife seen this on Facebook and said she wants it. Guess I'll have to order a few books. I use battery operated LEDs for my lights, there is 20 in a string and it takes 3 AAA batteries. Great job indeed. Scrappile 1 Quote
