Denny Knappen Posted September 20, 2016 Report Posted September 20, 2016 I finished this bowl on Monday, September 19th. The pattern is by Steve Good and downloaded from his catalog. I used 1/2" Walnut and cut the rings with FD Polar #3 blades. The finish is 50% BLO with one coat of Shellac. It is approximately 5" high and 7" in diameter. Comments welcome. amazingkevin, Lucky2 and Phantom Scroller 3 Quote
New Guy Posted September 20, 2016 Report Posted September 20, 2016 Very nice job. I cut that one awhile ago and used mineral oil for the finish. Quote
Denny Knappen Posted September 20, 2016 Author Report Posted September 20, 2016 Thanks Al. I think the 50% BLO really brought out the color. Quote

lonewolf Posted September 21, 2016 Report Posted September 21, 2016 Good looking bowe denny. I know people are gonna kick me in the butt for this question, i may have asked before, but what is blo? Quote
Scrappile Posted September 21, 2016 Report Posted September 21, 2016 Really a very nice bowl. I have to give those a try. My wife keeps after me to make some bowls on the lathe. I wore out on the lathe maybe someday I will get back to it, but not now. Besides a good friend of ours makes her bowls, I just have to supply him with some wood. He is far better on the lathe than I ever was. First show he entered he won best in show. Quote
Rockytime Posted September 21, 2016 Report Posted September 21, 2016 Very nice. Way beyond my ability but maybe someday. BTW, BLO is boiled linseed oil. Quote
DWSUDEKUM Posted September 21, 2016 Report Posted September 21, 2016 Nicely done Denny. That came out great. Love the finish. Thanks for sharing this with us. DW Quote
Phantom Scroller Posted September 21, 2016 Report Posted September 21, 2016 I love scrolled bowls you get the chance to try so many different designs and they sell well. Roly Quote
Denny Knappen Posted September 21, 2016 Author Report Posted September 21, 2016 Thanks for all the nice comments. Quite easy to make. The trick is to be sure each layer is correctly alligned when gluing. I glue two layers at a time. Quote
