Montserrat
My first attempt at designing - Maybe one day I will be as good as Sue Mey. It looked mighty fine on paper. But cut, I am not so sure any more. Padauk - untreated as of yet. I need to get a dipping pan for the linseed oil. Note: I feel you can't see the forest for the trees or the Letters for the decorations. What do you think? Honest replies appreciated. It should read "Frohe Weihnachten" Note 2: The Forum turned the picture again - I swear I photographed it upright. Lucky2
Monti, I honestly think it is an outstanding cutting, you did well. I would put it up against some of Sue Mey's work, I think it looks like a real interesting pattern to cut. Keep up with your pattern making, you definitely know what you are doing. If I were rating this design on a 1-10 scale, I would rate it at a strong 9 very very close to a ten. Len tonylumps
Dan
I like it Monti. It was hard to read at first, but once I read it it was easier. You could make one out of light colored wood and do some painting.
Dave Monk
Great pattern and cutting. I imagine it took quite a bit longer to make the pattern than to cut it. dave

Rockytime
Merry Christmas to you too. Cutting is wonderful. I am turning padauk for pepper grinders. Red dust over everything. Did you find that when scrolling. I really like the design.
Montserrat
Thanks guys! Red dust over everything. Did you find that when scrolling. Absolutely! All over, although I bet not as bad as when turning. Edited September 26, 2016 by Montserrat
Scrappile
I think it is wonderful and beautifully cut. If you look at Sue Mey's pattern it, to me appears busy until I look at it a few seconds. Same with yours, there is a lot in that circle. But it is really nice. Great job. zimmerstutzen
It is a first rate job. I think sometimes the backround or style obscures the letters. I have seen several very complicated pieces that I must stare at for more \Han a few seconds before I see the letters or picture. I do like it very much. VIEL DANK for posting it. banderson
Nice job cutting. It is very well done. Once I knew what it said I could see the words. I would suggest making the letters follow the circle. I was thrown off by the N and the W. They are turned 90 degrees from the rest of the letters; the N looked like a Z and the W looked like a 3. Keep up the designing.

MrsN
I like it a lot. It did take me a moment to see the words, but I was looking at it sideways and don't know German. You did a fantastic job for your first try! Keep up the good work!
heppnerguy
I too like it...It does look a little busy to me and takes a little time to read it. I like all the little ornimental things in it too. Very nice pattern. I was thinking that if you made is a little larger and the letters a little bit bolder, perhaps it would be easier to read. Your pattern is really wonderful and so is your cutting.. Dick heppnerguy

Rob
Oh dear Monti. All I can say is been there, done that. I cut a heart with a fern inside it, dropped it on the floor and it immediately split in half. Put it behind you and move on, Rob

DWSUDEKUM
Monti sorry to see that happen to a fine work, but it happens. Paduck needs support when it is that thin. This pattern would cut in BB or Oak or hard maple much easier and most likely hold together when handled better. DW
Rolf
What happened ? did you drop it? With that design I had trouble pulling the letters out especially the Weinachten ( I speak German by the way). If it were my cut yo make it clearer I would under cut the edges of the letters to make it seem that they are proud of the rest of the cutting. Montserrat
the aluminium pan in which it was to drip off the excess oil slipped off the stack of wood I had hap hazardously put it upon. All my fault.
