Fab4 Posted September 26, 2016 Report Posted September 26, 2016 I have patterns of beautiful snowflakes Different configuration, slotted, etc etc I thought for sure they would be good sellers, so I made quite a few of them Boy, was I wrong - People in this area are not into snowflakes Has this happened to anyone else? Without sharing the pattern (unless you designed it and want to share) What did you think would be a good seller only to have it backfire I know items sell differently depending on where you live. The price has nothing to do with it Thanks for shooting the breeze on this one Fab4 Quote
danny Posted September 26, 2016 Report Posted September 26, 2016 I had a couple in previous years that I felt would be a Good Seller to be Disappointed after the show. After a couple tries I just decided on giving them to Loved ones as Gifts. Live n Learn. Might of went over big in other states. Anyway.... Danny :+} Fab4 1 Quote
Lucky2 Posted September 27, 2016 Report Posted September 27, 2016 Snowflake ornaments were never good sellers for me. Len Fab4 1 Quote

ChelCass Posted September 27, 2016 Report Posted September 27, 2016 Were the snowflakes plain or did you paint them and add some sparkle (glitter) to them? What time of the year did you try and sell them (makes a big difference)? Have you tried taking a few and make a windchime with them? Don't be discouraged one year people totally ignore an item the next year they are begging for them. Can you personalized them? Perhaps a small decorative name plate across them. Check Pinterest and see what people have done with Snowflakes to get ideas of what might work for you. Chelcass Fab4 1 Quote

MrsN Posted September 27, 2016 Report Posted September 27, 2016 I don't have good luck at shows, so in a way every pattern is a backfire for me. I gave up on doing shows for now and just make things for fun and other people. I give a lot of christmas presents out. Fab4 and WayneMahler 2 Quote
Fab4 Posted September 27, 2016 Author Report Posted September 27, 2016 Judy/ Barry: I'm not discouraged at all There are way too many things to scroll. I was just wondering about things we thought would sell and don't for whatever reason They were your ordinary snowflake painted, some with glitter Around Christmas time (November/December) If I do what you suggest, that changes the whole thing and now price becomes a factor I personalize a lot of things and they always sell good but not snowflakes They do burn good in my fire pit though.................lol Flakes are history in my books Thanks for the feedback Fab4 ChelCass 1 Quote

It changes from year to year, season to season. One year it might be whimsy ornaments, another year fancy boxes another year puzzles or bowls or any of a whole range of things that we scrollers are capable of making. I have a true story for you. I cut a portrait of President Obama, and no I did not vote for him however he is very photogenic. Anyway I displayed this portrait in each of my 7 shows that I do a year and it did not sell. Not the first year, or the Second or the Third, or the Forth. I had given up on selling it when out of the blue this gentleman made a bee line to it and bought it. Needless to say I was shocked that it finally sold and it just goes to prove my point you can not tell when or what someone is going to buy something you think should sell well. DW Fab4 1 Quote
orangeman Posted September 28, 2016 Report Posted September 28, 2016 The last thing I designed and cut that didn't sell were cross puzzles! I made them from cherry and priced them at $18. Will now reduce to just rid of them. bb Fab4 1 Quote
WayneMahler Posted September 29, 2016 Report Posted September 29, 2016 I'm sure when I say we have all been through that. Don't make it any easier but at least you know you're not alone. Fab4 1 Quote

Fab4 Posted September 29, 2016 Author Report Posted September 29, 2016 Did you glitter them up like a million dollars?Make them shine like a babys behind.Try them again fanced up Hi Kevin: The comments I received were positive for the flakes, I just think it's one of those items that people had no use for, maybe a different show with different people may have been better but for now, like I mentioned, I'm done with snowflakes Should someone order/want some, I think I'll scream and suggest they go to WalMart........lol Thanks for the suggestion Fab4 Quote
