I  took a look at Steve Good's page yesterday and saw that he had posted a pattern that really excited me and I knew I had to cut this one, right away. I believe it to be his best pattern ever.so off to the shop I went and cut the pedistal and the statue  and today I cut and finished the rest of it. I did add a couple of things that I thought would make it an even better project, at least for me. I made a backer board for the statue and stained it black, I also stained the back part of the pedistal black because there were quite a few veining parts and I wanted all of it to stand out a little better. I cut the statue from Alder, the base was from a fairly large block of Mahogany which I had to resaw to 1 inch thick and then one piece of it to 1/4 in thick. I am in hopes that Steve will start making more patterns like this one of some of our nation's monuments as well as some international monuments. I did suggest that to him in an email. Now I wait and see if he does so

You really did that up proud, Dick.  Very nice.  I get his patterns each day and have to admit that most are not to my interest, but this one I did save when I saw it.  I hope he follows your suggestions, I also hope that when I get a chance to do this one I do as good as you did.

Dick, it's a gorgeous cutting, you did an outstanding job of bringing it all together. I agree with you, this may be one of Steve's best patterns so far. Being Canadian, the statue of liberty doesn't mean as much to me, as it does you. But, when I saw this pattern, I was very impressed and I considered cutting one for myself.

That is just awesome cutting Dick and a beautiful piece of artwork you have created there.  I can see why you wanted to go and cut it right away.  Like debinoz, I will have to put it on my "maybe someday when I am lots better with the saw" list of things to try!  Thanks for sharing it.  I haven't checked Steve's site in a little while - maybe time to go and check and see what I have missed lately.
