Excalibur Scroll Saws on the horizon???

Stumbled across this on Amazon UK.  They are selling "Advanced Build Quality Excalibur Scroll saws" promising 3 to 5 week delivery.  I am not entirely sure what they mean by Advanced Build Quality but I am hoping this indicates a return to "in stock" status in the US.

That cream colour looks suspiciously like the colour that Axminster use in the UK although they now seem to be using cream and grey.  Anyway the price seems high...

£1367.38 is $1779.29 US.

It will be interesting to see where this leads.  I have only found the Excalibur and a Hegner clone for sale in NZ and both are not currently available.  De Walt do not import the DW788 so most of the saws available are cheap rubbish.  My Delta Q3 is showing it's age so I am hoping someone will import something decent over here.

I set an alert on craigs list for a scroll saw, received several emails during the next month as they were listed, the last email was an ex-21 for $500 - I got it.  What a difference!!

I did notice that the new Jet scroll saw looks identical to the ex, any one seen them in person or know if there is difference?

If you have a Woodcraft store near you they carry the Jet and may have one. You can always go there and look and dream.   :)

Boy, I am certainly glad that I purchased my 'made in Canada' EX-30 scroll saw back in 2003.  . :)

At that point I was doing very little scroll sawing.  I bought the saw on spec thinking that, a few years into my retirement, I might take up scroll sawing.  That hunch proved to be correct because I did start to use the saw in a big way just about a year ago.

I see there are videos on Youtube on the Jet.  They should show the differences.  The biggest is the Jet is a bottom feed saw because of the blade clamping system on the bottom.  The top clamp looks good if it holds up, it clamps and tensions at the same time if I understand it correctly.

The Jet is very similar to the ex.  The main difference is the clamping mechanism.  It works great for me, but does not allow for top feeding if that is what you are used to.

I missed an ex30 for $700.

I agree Frank. Purchased Miy Ex30 (Black Beauty) in 99. Sixteen years later and still operates like new and will more than likely outlast me.

There is one in San Antonio (65 miles) ot much of a store, kinda small - of course I have not been to any in another city, but not what I expected.  No scroll saws in stock at all, and very few other power tools on hand.
