rdatelle
Wow Tony, it's amazing how you can make pens out of wood and make them so beautiful. That's a craft in it self.
amazingkevin
Nice work! What are you charging for the pens (if you don't mind my asking)? Looks like he's got a $50.00 tag on them,.
amazingkevin
I can not believe with all of this technology Email,Texting,Social Media that Pens are in. I guess that if it is a one of a kind people have to have it.I made a bling Pen for my wife and she took it to work.It started from there. Between the Pens and the little Key Chain Angels.I think I have another full time job.Well not quite.I still give my little angels away at the Cancer treatment center. But my wife is selling them at her job. They love them She said that everybody wants a good Pen to hold at meetings.Me I always had a good Carpenters pencil to hold. Mighty fine ideas Here are a few Pens.My wife has a big display at work.I made a Steve Good Jewelry tree to display the Angels and one of the Ladies bought the tree for her ear rings. That is funny Best looking set up ever, sells it's self Ron do what I did.Bought an unbrella for the wife's car Nice work! What are you charging for the pens (if you don't mind my asking)?[/quoteRolf it depends on the blank and kit combo. On the slim line with a hardwood blank for example 25.00 to 30.00 On a Bling type with Acrylic blank 50.00 If stabilize exotic I get a little more. Some say my prices are a little low.I don't really know what they should be That is funny you mentioned that My Wen air cleaner got here today.I will use that in the center of the shop. And a box fan with house filter next to the scroll saws.Plus the shop Vac.I should be OK for closed door cutting for the winter. You'll be happy as a bird with a french fry scrolling year round now

JTTHECLOCKMAN
You can use a scrollsaw to enhance your pen making skills. There are many people who use it to help in segmenting of their pens. There are those that actually scroll objects and then adhere to the tubes and cast in clear resin. You can see a lot of this at the IAP pen turning site. Pen making took up quite a bit of my time when I first got into it and I slacked off my scrolling. I am now at the point I can do both and not be overwhelmed with either. There are so many little items you can make on a lathe that sell very well. Bottle stoppers. birdhouse ornaments, as mentioned pens and pencils, bowls, clocks and so forth. Expanding your hobbies is a plus when it comes to selling your wares. Yes turning can be an expensive hobby but it depends on your desire to evolve with it. Your items do look great and should sell very well. Can be a little extra income while you are having fun.
