Kevin Latimer Posted September 30, 2016 Report Posted September 30, 2016 Hi all. First let me say thanks in advance. Early July My mom passed away I really havet scrolled much because that gives me too much time to think. I've tried to make a couple of patterns but it just brings me to tears. So I was thinking of doing a memorial cross (actually a couple) one for her grave, and a couple for my home and my aunts home. What i was thinking was a 2" photo insert in the middle at the intersection of the crosses and then R.W.G.(rest with God) scrolled diagonally down the bottom leg of the cross, and maybe if there is room or if it looks okay, her birth year and year of death. 12/13/1953 and 7/10/16 any help would be greatly appreciated. kevin lawson56 and amazingkevin 2 Quote
Birchbark Posted September 30, 2016 Report Posted September 30, 2016 what size were you thinking? Running R.W.G. "diagonally down the bottom leg" will make it fairly large. Russell Quote
Kevin Latimer Posted September 30, 2016 Author Report Posted September 30, 2016 (edited) didnt really have a preference on size. i do only have a 20" throat though and i don't use spirals. Also in case i wasn't clear i Did only mean the initials RWG not the words Edited September 30, 2016 by Klatimer Quote
Birchbark Posted October 2, 2016 Report Posted October 2, 2016 Well this is what i came up with. It won't be an easy cut, but i think its doable. Hope it helps. Russell Debi Shipman, frankorona and Fish 3 Quote
meflick Posted October 3, 2016 Report Posted October 3, 2016 Not a pattern maker and looks like Russell has given you one to work with. However, I did want to say that I am sorry for the loss of your mother. I lost my mom back around the first of April this year after a several years battle with Alzheimer's. Losing your mother or father at any time from anything is always a difficult time. Its been 6 months tomorrow since mine passed. My dad had died 26 years ago so its been difficult to deal with having them both gone now. Unlike you, I started working with the scroll saw shortly after her death and it brought me great peace as I found for me I had to concentrate very much while working with the saw. I pray that you can find comfort in something as you mourn the loss of your mom. I know some days are better then others. We just will take it one day at a time. Quote
