Some of you may know that I am a scroll saw instructor at the Woodcraft store in Ventura, Ca. This weekend is the stores annual woodworking show. All the major tool manufactures reps will be there, and lots of demos. I will be doing a scroll saw demo. I'll be cutting 3D compound cut Reindeers and Dolphins.

I usually hand them to the closest person watching. I'll also be cutting some ornaments, not to be handed out though, as these will be for sale at my shows coming up.

If you are in Southern California, come in and say hi. I will be there on Saturday, Oct 1st. from 9:00 am till about 2:00.

Have fun at the demo Dan.  Hope it attracts lots of interest.

Several years ago our club was invited to do something similar at the local Rockler store.  About 5 or 6 of us went, took some finished projects to show and made a little sawdust with the store's demo saw.  For some reason, we attracted very little interest.  Rockler didn't sell any scrollsaws that day.    Funny thing, they've never asked us to come back.

Yes I would be interested to see how well it is received, since these CNC machines, I feel the younger generation isn't that interested in scrolling, or even any kind of woodwork. Enjoy the day, thx RJ

I've demo'ed at this show every year the store has been open except one year and have always had a good turn out.

I see young people interested in woodworking all the time, in fact my last class last month I had a high schooler enrolled!

Sounds like a fun day! What saw will you be demonstrating on?

The store demo saw is a DeWalt. They stock DeWalts, Deltas EX's and the new Jet. I could use any of them, but since I own and use DeWalts, that's what I will use.
