tonylumps
I started to do Puzzles I have been doing to much reading on what blade to use. The puzzles I did so far seem to be a little loose I have been using 3/4" for the Woodimals. But they do not seem to hold together for a stand up puzzle Should I invest in a puzzle Blade Or keep using FDUR.If so what size is good for this type of cutting Thanks Tony
zimmerstutzen
I just tried cutting out a puzzle and I thought perhaps my blade was too fine. Very slow going, but a nice smooth cut. Using an Olson 9. I was cutting 5/8 inch Elm. Maybe my wood is too thick.
ike
when I cut a puzzle i use an Olson's # 3 r and they fit good. be sure not to put any pressure on the sides. and a medium speed with a slow feed. IKE Lucky2
dgman
Hey Tony, the puzzle blades are for cutting jigsaw puzzles. The typically are a #3/0 which is much to thin for 3/4" wood. For stand up puzzles I use FD UR #3. You didn't say what size you are using. Yes I have been using #3 UR But I thought I would have to go to a smaller blade.Maybe not, It might just be me
Lucky2
Tony, I use a FDUR#3 blade for cutting my puzzles. I cut at a slower feed rate, I find it makes cutting the tab locks easier. Personally, I think a blade bigger in size, just makes the kerf a little to wide for the puzzle to stay together. Len
