JimErn
Another thread referred to an ex-16 for sale and when I looked at the picture, I really liked the shelf it was on. so I made one, now sawdust and fretwork drops do not fall on the floor or me. Later when I relocate my shop vacuum outside I will duct the table itself where it needs to be. If you are thinking of something like this .... be warned. Whoever makes the ex has a perverted sense of humor. The mounting bolts for the saw to the stand are 12mm hex head, both the bolt and the nut (at least mine are). But the threads are 5/16-18 SAE. When you go to buy longer bolts, you are also changing the bolt head wrench size. The shelf is 24x24 inches, old piece of plywood I had, plus the stick edging Edited October 14, 2016 by JimErn Lucky2, crupiea and amazingkevin
hawkeye10
Very good Jim. Do you use the dust collection that came with the EX? Mine was so loud and in the way so I took it off. Just wondering what your opinion was.
WayneMahler
I like that. Looks like it is a great idea.
Rockytime
I don't have an EX but I am wondering what the black, rectangular thing hovering over the table is. Is it a light? If so what kind is it?

JustLarry
Thanks for the idea. I will be adding a catch try to my table. Wonder why I had not thought of that. Way too busy picking up sawdust and dusting myself off I guess. Larry Edited October 15, 2016 by JustLarry
Lucky2
I've done similar with my saw, the only difference is, that I cut a hole in the tray where the dust falls. Now when I use the saw, the dust falls through the hole into a container that I have attached to the underside of the tray. It's a godsend, I never have to clean up due to scrolling. The dust and scraps both all go into the container, the only cleaning up I have to do, is the emptying of the container. The container I use is 6"x12"x24", I have it set-up so that it slides in and out of the space. Len Phantom Scroller and heppnerguy

Mine was so loud and in the way so I took it off. Just wondering what your opinion was. No, the dust collector kept getting clogged so I took it off and the sawdust and drops would fall to the floor and on me. edit: I don't know who make it or sells it, the wife had someone drop off a box of misc stuff at her consignment store and she asked if I could use it. It clamps on the back of the list arm. Edited October 15, 2016 by JimErn
JimErn
@ Obsessed Scroller - yes that is an LED light. My porter cable came with a light aimed at the blade, I was astounded that a "premium" saw did not.@ Jim - That is why I want her to start scrolling - once she starts the whole shop will get cleaned, right now she says that is my domain. :-) jbrowning
munzieb
I took off the dust collector on my EX-16. It kept getting jammed up with small cut offs. I use a plastic tub under the saw and it catches most of the dust. I just hit it with the shop vac when it gets too full.
DukeNukem
Pretty good idea, now cut a vent slot at the front of the dust trap on the inside and hook up a vacuum hose. I plan on doin something similar on mine. Phantom Scroller
