rod1229
Hello, I am from Cridersville, Ohio. I am just starting my interest in scroll sawing. I also enjoy doing wood burning. I am using a 16" craftsman scroll saw. I have practiced on a few pieces and now experiencing some problems. My scroll saw is squeaking loudly from the back where the tension adjustment is. Has anyone else noticed this with a craftsman saw? Any ideas on what it is or how to fix it? Thanks Rodney Birchbark
Ron Johnson
Welcome Rodney from the GREAT WHITE NORTH. Started scrolling many years ago with a 16" craftsman. It was a decent saw but upgraded a year later. The squeaking could be the tension needs adjustment and or lubricating. Check your manual if you have one or go on line for one. Shouldn't be too serious. I'm sure other members will chime in with help. All the best. rod1229

I have never had that saw so no help on your issue but looks like Ron and Lawson have given you good information to help you there. Just wanted to say welcome and look forward to seeing you learn and share here in the Village.

Has anyone else noticed this with a craftsman saw? Any ideas on what it is or how to fix it? Thanks Rodney This is a big problem with chinese ,sakura, dremil ,most craftsmen, porter cable, harbor freight saw .Made for light duty and no oiling points or bearings, just metal to metal. If your spending less than $500. on a new machine your throwing good money into the wind.I've had many a great minute ,hour day month year on these inferior machines and can't complain for all the good times i've had.I had no idea there was better. meflick
Good luck. Perhaps you need to encourage your wife to learn the saw right along with you so she can do some of those projects she is lining up. LOL

Dan
Welcome to The Village Rodney! I'm just a 2-hour drive down I75. I, too, started with a 16" Craftsman. Lubrication or adjustment should take care of the squeak.

heppnerguy
I think a garage door lube might be a good spray lube for your saw. It is not expensive but does a job on the boggest moving part of your house. It is quite superior to WD40 as a lube. It is easily found at the big box stores or any hardware store. You might give it a try Dick Heppner guy
