hawkeye10
I need a thin backer board so I can frame some of my cuttings. I cut it using 1/4" BB ply and know I can buy 1/8th ply "I think" but that might be to thick. I can also build a frame but I rather not. ike
I use 1/4 solid core ply to cut a picture and my backer board is 1/4 under-lament ply for the back board,, the solid core oak cost about $30 per 4X8 plyu and the under lament cost about $ii for a 4X8 sheet. Bill WIlson
Do you have a Michaels handy? The local store here carries small sheets of veneer thin birch ply. I want to say it's 1/32" thick, but can't recall for sure. It ain't necessarily cheap, but might be what you need.
Scrolling Steve
Like Ike I use a lot of 1/4 underlayment board that you can get at the big box stores...not very expensive and i usually wind painting it black for a backer .....just my two cents ! Lucky2
Personally, I don't like using it, but, you could try using felt or black bristle board as a backer. Both are a thinner than 1/8" BB, which might give you the space you need. Len
WayneMahler
I make my own frames. I find it easier then trying to find something very thin. Another thought would be to cut both from 1/8" BB. I cut my dados and grooves to the depth I need then cover the backs with brown craft paper. That makes a huge difference to the customers. Just the way I do things.
Phantom Scroller
I use 1/4 birchply and use a black cardboard backer from cheapy shops packs of a dozen sheets all colours and they fit in a bought frame with the glass as well. If it's for out side then the craft shop for foam backers A4 SIZE does the same.Roly
Bill WIlson
Another option is to use mat board. It's thicker and more rigid than poster board, probably around a 1/16", and comes in several different colors.
