I have cut this pattern by Birchbark before but in pine.  For a long time I have wanted to re-do it in something better and finally got around to it.  Reclaimed Rimu as usual finished with 50/50 BLO.

Beautiful.  It seems that no matter what you cut from Reclaimed Rimu it always looks fabulous and expensive.

That looks fantastic!  That Reclaimed Rimu is such a nice wood, and you did a great job of cutting it.  I really like that wood, strange i've never even heard of it before you started showing it to us.

I have have cut that pattern a couple of times, looks good in red oak , but not quite as nice as the rimu !....Looks great !!

Beautiful work Rob and very well done and finished. I understand the Rimu wood is grown in New Zealand and is noted for its beautiful grain and taking on a fabulous finish.

Thanks Les.  Rimu is a native New Zealand timber which is now protected.  I get all of my wood from the Council recycling centre where I buy old drawer boxes or bits of broken furniture, headboards, floorboards whatever I can find.  I get a great kick out of turning someone's scrap into something beautiful.
