banderson
This past weekend I was finally able to finish some projects which have taken too long to complete. The fork lift and skid loader were requests from my kids. Too bad they are not getting them until Christmas. I showed them the plans back in July so they have been waiting a while. Blog posts will be completed shortly. The Project Surf Camp ornament was a request from my oldest son. He has participated the past couple of years. He has noticed that we pick up ornaments from our family vacations, so he requested a project surf camp ornament so "Santa Claus could know what he did this year." Not thrilled with the letters but I wasn't sure how to do the font like the logo. Just a little plug for Project surf Camp: they allow kids with disabilities to go into the ocean and surf for a day. They provide all the support and gear. It truly has been fun to watch and it obviously meant a lot to my son. Yoda, I did because I found a picture and did it. A fun quick project. Pretty sure the image is copyrighted so the ornament is not going anywhere. On the Project Surf Camp ornament, I used a spiral blade to cut out some of the letters. I thought I would have more control and an easier time with the tight corners. I don't know if I am sold on using them. I used a #2 Olsen and I felt like I was plow routing the piece and there was no way of getting a sharp corner. I also felt like I did not have as much control as I do with a normal blade. Am I using a spiral blade for the wrong purpose or does it take time to get use to? lawson56, MTCowpoke22, wombatie and 1 other
Ron Johnson
Love the loader and fork lift Brad. There'll difinitely be some excitement when your kids receive them on Xmas morning. Very well done. Good for son participating in a great project. He'll difinitely appreciate receiving the ornament for remembrance. Again very nicely done. Yoda, cute and well done. I don't use spirial blades much. I'm too comfortable cutting with regular blades. I use them only if I think they'll improve the end result. Edited October 25, 2016 by Ron Johnson
