DukeNukem Posted October 30, 2016 Report Posted October 30, 2016 I have a question adopt what type oil should be used for this dolphin and is there a way to make them different colors? Jerry Quote
WayneMahler Posted October 30, 2016 Report Posted October 30, 2016 I cut the little ducks from Steve Good. I finish them either mineral spirits or tung oil. Once dry both are food safe and pretty durable. As for coloring them, I would think any dye would work, I leave mine natural. Scrolling Steve 1 Quote
Scrolling Steve Posted October 30, 2016 Report Posted October 30, 2016 Food grade mineral oil would bring out the grain and be safe......Like Wayne stated, a lot of finishes are safe when fully cured. Quote

CharleyL Posted October 30, 2016 Report Posted October 30, 2016 Food coloring makes a good stain. Mix, bland several colors to get whatever you want, or just use the basic red, yellow, green, blue, etc. Charley Quote

Lucky2 Posted October 31, 2016 Report Posted October 31, 2016 Jerry, to protect them, I would use mineral oil. To color them, I would use food dye or colored felt tip markers. I use the markers a lot on turned items, the colors are always nice and bright. Len Quote
