Gonzo
My brother is making a baby cradle for our niece who is having a baby. He asked me to scroll a design of some sort for it. The area I have to work with is 5" wide by 10" tall. 1/2" red oak. I am wondering if anyone has any ideas or patterns. Thanks, Gonzo
Debi Shipman
Depends on the sex? Girly flowers or manly trucks. For either you could do nursery rhyme characters. a Bambi type scene, the alphabet,,, or you could go with the baby's name or something like "sweet dreams" or "rock-a-bye baby." jerry1939

bandaideman
I am a little confused which happens easily anymore. Are you making a cradle for like a doll and your brother is making a regular size cradle for a actual baby and he is going to copy your design. I would think google would direct you to doll cradles and I have found and made those. For a big one and your brother will take your lead and make his pattern to the right size. I have made Baby cradle for my daughter who has 4 kids and she loaned it to her sister who has 2 kids and it has survived nicely. I had to make a couple more for friends as well. I found a company that precuts the wood needed in either cherry or oak etc to approximate size and then it is up to you to cut to size comes with all hardware. It was not too bad but for me that was great since I did not have many good good accurate tools for planning, cutting Came with full plans and back up if you called. I can not remember the company right now. My oldest grandson will be 17 in December so it has done well. Right now it is setting in a spare bedroom I guess for great grand kids. I am sure the price is up from years ago. Sorry for running on answer probably nothing that you asked.

Thanks, Gonzo Google baby cradels and look at them under images and get some working ideas from those in the business.
