rdatelle
Hi everyone, I just finished this wreath today. This is a Steve Good pattern and measures 15 x 15. I stacked cut this using a #5 UR blade. I got two out of it and it's made out of finished plywood. This is where i'm stuck. I'm not sure if i should leave it natural with a few coats of poly on it or if I should paint it. I'm not to good painting. Any suggestions. Thanks, Ralph. hawkeye10, lawson56 and Fab4
woodduck
Ralph why not buy yourself an air brush I have one & find it terrific & is ideal for getting into all those nooks & crannies.

Ralph if I can paint this you can paint your wreath. Since it's a wreath the base color would be green so spray paint it with a rattle can and then hand paint the other colors. Walmart has artist brushes and hobby paint to finish it with. amazingkevin
Ron Johnson
Beautiful wreath and nicely cut Ralph. The wreath would be beautiful painted. I'm sure you'll do just fine if you choose to paint. Well done.

rdatelle
Well it looks like I might have to paint it all by hand seeing that the bow will be one color and bells will be another color and the wreath green and the box with my name another color. Maybe a red bow with silver bells. Maybe black for the name section.I really only have to do one side because the back will be against the wall or door. I'll put a pic on when I'm done, if I ever get done.
Scrolling Steve
Looks great , Ralph !.....Nice cutting !
Debi Shipman
That looks great. I wondered how they would look with a longer name. My opinion on painting would depend on where you hang it. On a darker surface I'd go with the poly, on a lighter surface I'd paint it. Dave Monk
I wonder how it would look to put a painted backer behind it? dave
Lucky2
Ralph, I don't know what it would look like if you painted it, but, if you could find a semi-transparent colored fill material it would look fantastic. Len
amazingkevin
Red & green glitter would make it fly
wombatie
Why not keep one natural and cut another one just to practice painting? I know it's extra work but with the second one you have a year to decide on the painting angle. Just a suggestion. Marg

Birchbark
I tried to show you a couple different versions here Ralph. Not the best, but may help in your decision. Russell Fab4, Dave Monk and WayneMahler
Kepy
I like the idea of colored backer. I have done that a lot and it really makes the cutting pop.
rdatelle
Russell, you make that look so easy. The second one was the way I was thinking on doing it but the backer one looks good to. Now I'm really confused. Lol. Birchbark
Debi Shipman
i like the backer. You could even leave it open in the center.
meflick
Very nice Job on the Cuts Ralph. Russell gave you some great visuals to try and help you decide. Like you, I'm not sure which way I would go and it would have to "gel" for a while before I decided. Like several suggested, try one painted like you "think" and one left natural and see. You can always put one at the front door (the one you like best) and one at the back door (second choice.) (or if your house is like mine - reverse it since most people don't come to my front door! )
milehiscroll
It will look great either way when you are done. Nice work
