TripleJScroller
For a long time I used the blue painter's tape and glue method, but I kept having trouble getting all the tape off without it taking bits of wood with it. So no I mostly just glue the pattern directly to the wood and use mineral spirits to remove it. That has worked fairly well for me though sometimes I put a bit too much glue on and have to scrub the wood a bit to get all the sticky residue off. loftyhermes
Repositionable spray glue onto back of pattern then glue to wood, packing tape only on thick wood 3/4" or thicker after holes are drilled. happy scrolling Steve

NC Scroller
When tape is required, not all projects call for taping, I apply the pattern directly to the wood using 3M Super 77 and then put clear packing tape on top of the pattern. banderson
I only put packing tape over the intricate designs. California got rid of the spray adhesive that I liked. The stuff that they have now seems to not perform as well.
buck_lake
Blue painters tape and use glue stick to fasten paper pattern
Lucky2
I don't use tape,I never seen the need to, I've never had a problem removing the pattern remnants. I've been tempted to try using tape, but, that's only because of what I've read about other scrollers using it. Len
Sam777
I use what sign makers call Transfer Tape. I apply that directly to the wood, I print all my printing on full sheets of Avery white labels, I apply that to the wood after I had stuck the Transfer Tape to. Never had an issue with removing paper after the project is done. (keep in mind I don't scroll saw as much as any of you guys/gals) Sam
