Basically, I was wondering if anyone knew when, or even if, General International is planning to start selling the Excaliburs again. I am just getting back into sawing and am using my old Dremel 1680. I would really like to upgrade to an EX-21 or something comparable. Thanks. "I know a few people have inquired about the availability of the Excalibur scroll saws. Today I sent Ray at Seyco an e-mail asking about it. He now also has the new JET scroll saws listed for sale on his site. Here is Ray's response. Hopefully this will answer some, but I'm sure not all of your questions. My comment to this would be that if Ray is selling it - he will stand behind it - regardless of the brand.Hi Janette. Excalibur's are not available. They are not saying anything at General and we are not into speculating so we are just going our own way. Jet is made for Jet and General has nothing to do with them. They are link drive but very different features. Jet is a good saw, good company behind it and both perform well. Excalibur's unique FEATURES will be back soon but probably with a different name. We have plenty of parts in stock and source for future supply. As for as sharing on internet, I have nothing but here-say and that we avoid repeating. The original Excalibur company was located about 20 kilometres away from my home in Scarborough, Ontario, Canada. They got bought out about 10 years ago then the company that bought them got bought out, then that company (whoever they may be?) screwed up BIG TIME. I'm happy to say that my EX-30 was made locally. hotshot Posted November 18, 2016 Report Share Posted November 18, 2016 (edited) Regardless of who is manufacturing the Jet "version", the heart of that saw is still Excalibur, at least by design. I wouldn't be surprised if the front piece on the arms of that saw couldn't be switched out to make a traditional Ex. If General (or DMT Holdings) has financial issues and can no longer purchase new stock, that would be a shame. However, I would note that Jet isn't the only one selling their own branded version of EX. As a matter of fact, Axminster, Carbatec, and Pegas scroll saws are still available in other parts of the world. In case some of you have never seen these, take a look: Since all these are available right now, I wonder why Seyco didn't source these. hotshot Posted November 18, 2016 Report Share Posted November 18, 2016 So, since General (or DMT) is licensing the design out so widely, wonder if Ray at Seyco has considered doing a "Seyco EX-21" Not sure what kind of volume he would have to purchase in. Of course Tom Sommerville originally designed both the EX and 788s. I wish he would have stayed in the scroll saw game, continuing to innovate. Hawkeye, as it so happens, the only General International Location in the US happens to be in Murfreesboro, located at 760 Jessica St. If you get the inclination to drive by there, you might see if you can see anything going on, or if you see someone you could ask. I decided I better get a replacement just in case. ​ ​I called Montreal and could get one for $11 cdn versus 15 us at Seyco. I went ahead and ordered and they said it would be shipped UPS and the cost would be $17. WOW I asked if it could be ship via the post office and he was going to check. It probably would be same price as Seyco all in. I think Seyco is a little different but I went ahead anyways. I asked the part guy and he confirmed that there will not be anymore Excaliburs.
