...and it was just great.  I did better than last year by roughly 20%.  I guess the fire hose cage did not hurt business one bit.  The sales pattern was very different.  Day one was 8 hours.  I did not have a single sale in the first hour.  The next three hours I sold about $400.  The last four hours I sold only $150.  Day two which is only six hours typically 1/2 of day 1 sales. This year I sold more on day two than I did on day one.  I sold about $75 in the first 15 minutes.  Then maybe $50 in the next 3 hours.  The last two hours the buyers swooped in.  I actually made a sale while packing up.

Here are a few pictures.  Now to start to rebuild inventory for 2017.

Glad to hear you had another great show Scott.  Guess that big yellow cage might have drawn some attention perhaps!  ;)   Maybe it was just the location - you know what relators say - Location, Location, Location!  :)  Hope that shop is inside where you can spend the winter months rebuilding up your supply for next year's shows!  Good thing you are retired!  Can you somehow incorporate that big yellow cage into a display next year? Hang things off the beams perhaps?

You did a great job on the display, and the variety is great also, just curious what do you sell the Military signs for, I sell mine for $30 and the sell well. Also great cutting.  edward

I sell the military emblems for $30 and the military word art for $25.  I do believe I sold 8 military pieces this past weekend.

Scott seems you had a very good sale and that is a good thing. As a general rule what things sell best at these shows? In other words what do you cut that you would dare not leave at home?

This time of year it is easy.  Ornaments would be #1 followed by puzzles.

Scott, congratulations on the successful sale, with the quality of your work, there's no wonder why you did so well. You had a dandy display set-up, lots of room to display yur work.

Great work Scott and very nice displays.  Congrats.

I always smile when I see things I make too... the dinosaur puzzles.  What types of wood do you make them from?

I do them as kids puzzles using pine and coloring them using watered down food coloring.  They are very popular at every event I do.

Another good sale performance. I hope mine in 2 weeks is as good. That is a lot of space to cover. Bet that kept you hoping.

I can relate to the last minute sales thing. I had an Asian person that was a repeat customer of mine at one show and she was running late. So I stalled my cleanup the best I could and she finally showed up. I sold her 6 of my fruit baskets that I make and she was sending them all around the world for Christmas gifts. That was a great sale but she even bought a few more things too for herself. Always was one of my better customers. I had 3 at that one show that basically I supplied so many things for their houses. You always need those repeat customers to help the final sales totals.

Good luck with the rest of your shows. I will have to remember to take my camera to shoot my setup which is a lot more unorganized than yours. I wish I had that space.

While I use some poplar I also make them out of walnut, maple and oak.  Walnut seems to be my best seller. For a finish I dip my puzzle pieces in Watco Danish Oil - Natural.

Setup takes about 2.5 hours.  Take down takes about 1 hour.  My wife helps with both and she also helps in the booth during the show.  Both of these shows have "Helpers" that help transport items from your car to your space and back again.
