Very nice display and great items Theresa! My only criticism is everything is packed in

to close together. I think you could of used a table along with the display stand you have. Your one little display looks lonely in that space.Otherwise, you and your dads items look great!

A question for you, where did you get the display?

I was told there also was a table used but I have yet to see a photo of that. We had way to many things to display for the space we had. I probably would have gotten two spaces if I were there. It was a good thing Theresa picked up the shelf display or it would have been really crowded. She did better than I would have done on my own. Not sure I want to do another one after this year, just not my thing

Well it has been awhile since I have been on this site. After I talked dad into making items for a local sale I got a second job and ran out of free time. However he took off to Arizona and was gone for the show. There were not many people at all but we still made 200 bucks. Am going to go to one more on the third.

Your angel on the bench is divine!

Theresa, I was asking your dad about where you've been, he told us how busy you've been. Thanks for sharing the picture with us, it looked like you guys covered all subjects. $200.00 isn't a bad total for a one day sale, how well was the sale advertised? That will generally reflect on how sales go, if it's poorly advertised you don't usually get the traffic flow needed for a real successful sale. Hopefully, you'll do as good or better at your next sale, what are you selling besides scroll work?

Dick, that was my sentiment also, but, I needed a place to get rid of my scroll saw work. I had given so much away, that people were getting tired of it. It was getting to the point, that my wife was starting to complain about it cluttering up the house. So I had to find some way of getting rid of it, the way I found was the Farmers Market. I would go there every Friday for four hours, and I usually made about $150.00 to $200.00 per day/week. It worked out to be one of the best ideas I ever had, it gave me a place to sell my wares and to get my business cards out there. That's what made it such a good idea, I got a lot of business off of those business cards. So Dick, if you look at it as just a way to get rid of your extras, you might learn to look forward to the odd sale. You can cut whatever you like, and as much as you like, if you have a place to get rid of what you cut. I never thought that I would like selling my scroll saw work, but, once I started attending them, I hated to miss a sale. Not only for the extra money, but, also for all the praise and nice remarks I got from people. Give one more sale a try, just to see what you think of them. But, for this next sale, I would like for you to be present. Don't miss the sale, be there, listen to what people have to say about your work. I think that if you do this, you will change your mind on how you feel about sales. I no longer participate in the Farmer's Market, but, the only reason I don't is because of a health reason. As soon as I can get that issue cleared up, I will be back there.

I was intrigued by the metal display rack. Can you please tell us where you found it?

Thanks,

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this. Since I always enjoy and respect your ideas, I will go to this next sale, just because of what you have to s at about them. My wife fell hard yesterday and it will depend on how well she is doing and if I am able to be away from her for that amount of time.

The rack was sitting outside our local lumber yard and had previously been used for one of their displays. My daughter asked if they were interested in selling it and they told her she could have it for $20 so she took it.. Since I had not done a craft sale before, I did not know if it would be useful or a deterrent. We had way too many items for a good displayed so this added some otherwise wasted space it turned out to be a nice and needed addition. All the shelves can be tilted to any angle so it's versatility helped. I guess It was worth the $20.

Dick, I hope your wife's fall didn't cause any serious injury,  I can understand how you feel about leaving her side. Hopefully, she'll be alright in no time, it's not a good time of year to be down. We will put her on our prayer list, but, we'll have to call her Dick's wife, I'm sure that will be ok.

Dick, regarding attending a sale. You get to know people, and what they like to see. Plus, you can give details on how you make things, people like to know that. And they like to talk to the person who is behind the products, it made them feel like they knew me which helped sales a lot. Plus, it made me feel good hearing what they thought of my work, and it's a good place to get some idea of what to cut next.

Dick,

Hope your wife recovers soon. Thanks for your reply on the rack. I would have given $200 :) !

It is perfect for puzzles. A little wind on an upright puzzle and whamo it is on the floor. All my shelves are slanted.

You have beautiful pieces. My only recommendation is to branch out into puzzles - everyone loves them! Adults and children.

As for shows: look at the good ones with high attendance. I shoot for $1,000/day in sales minimum; if i don't get that I look for another show to replace it. My best show is a 3 day show with 200,000 attendance in an affluent town; approaches $2,000 in sales/day. Worth the $300 booth fee and travel costs with hotel for 4 nights.

Thanks again for your reply. I may have to Google "industrial display racks" to see what I can find like yours. bb
