DukeNukem
What do you folks seal your trivets with? I'm not sure if it's a good idea to put a deft clear coat on them. lawson56

hawkeye10
I have read that a lot of people use BLO. That is half and half boiled linseed oil and mineral spirits. Also there is Watco Danish Oil.
scrollerpete
I made lots of trivets and I used Tung oil, 2 to 3 coats and sanding in between coats using 600 grit, so far everybody is happy and no complains. If it wear out just sand it again and reapply Tung oil to it.

Lucky2
Jerry, any oil type of finish would work. In the past, I've used BLO, Danish oil, Mineral oil, and a couple of them had Walnut oil on them. You want to use an oil that soaks in, and one that seems dry to the touch. You want them dry to the touch, so that they don't affect any table cloths or the finish of what they will be set on. Len
