Has anyone pulled the triger on the new jet saw

Not me. I am a top feeder and the new Jet saw is strictly a bottom feeder.

I have yet to see this saw up close but what makes you say this is strickly a bottom feeder. I thought it was a clone of the Ex and Dewalt???  May have to take a look at the specs of the saw. Unfortunately we do not have tool stores here any more. They close so fast because of the internet these days.

Nobody ever said it was a clone of any saw, because it is not. Yes, the top arm lifts, but when you release the tension the top clamp automatically realeses the blade, making it impossible to top feed. When you mount the blade to the top clamp, it clamps the blade and tensions the blade at the same time. There is a slot in the table to allow you to slip the blade and bottom clamp in which makes it easier to feed the blade from below, but not from above.

Like the Excaliburs, the head tilts instead of the table, but unlike the Excaliburs, it had a cast iron table.

It's a well built saw, they just left out any ability to top feed.

Maybe it was not tauted as a clone but it sure does look like one. has many of the EX and Dewalt features and they both copied that front arm blade cutting motion. I did watch a couple of the videos on the net now about that saw and it looks well made. It maybe a bottom feeder but with the arm being lifted as high as you can there is no need for bending over to see the holes so I would not say that is not  that bad of thing. Looks like a nice saw. If the EX does not make a come back this maybe the saw to replace it. I will stick with my RBI but it is another player out there. Hope to one day take for a test spin if someone has one that I run into.

I did test drive one at Klingspor.  The bottom of the blade is first locked into a special barrel type holder that is then snapped into the saw.  I believe only one holder comes with the machine.  Then you lower the top arm and there is a lever to lock the top of the blade.  The saw was smooth and appeared well built.  If I was a bottom feeder and needed a new saw I would really consider it.

I like everything that I have read, heard, and seen (via video) about the saw.  In particular, I like the blade changing system (which appears to be better thought out  than my previous generation  Excalibur EX-30l).  I'm a bottom feeder and would like a better view under the item I am working on and the Jet does provide that.

I will definitely keep the EX-30 but am thinking about buying this as a second saw next year.  But, I will definitely find a place (probably not in Canada  ) where I can try this saw in person before I buy it.

We use to have a Woodcraft and a couple other tool stores where they sold major tools and supplies but they could not survive here and got swallowed up by the big box stores and the internet. I miss those stores because we could always go in and play with the toys. The location for putting the blade in the lower clamp could have been better worked out. With the Rbi it is right in the arm and makes it very convenient. That saw you have to get up and do it or if you have a chair with wheels, roll over to it. It does look like a solid saw though.

I did bite the bullet on the Jet. My old delta has about had it and it's time for an upgrade. Everything I've read and watched (Steve Good's review plus a few others) convinced me that this is a good saw and quite the upgrade over my old one. I did get a chance to look at the saw (not use it) at a local wood store in Billings, MT. Definitely looks a feels solid to me. I went through Seyco. I really like what I've heard about their service. I'm really looking forward to trying out this saw and will let ya know what I think once I'm up and running.

I've had one for about 4 months now, and have not regretted my choice once.  If has a lot of the same mechanics as the ex, but with the different blade change mechanism.  It is strictly a bottom-feed saw.  It comes with 3 of the bottom blade holders which is nice if you want to load up multiple types or sizes of blades.
