Clayton717
Here is my latest intarsia. I have 22.5 hours in this one. It measures 30 x 34. and has 91 pieces. The woods I used are walnut, poplar, aspen, yellowheart, bloodwood, and cypress. This one has already sold, and I have an order for another one but instead of the banner he wants a fish in its claws. The banner says in god we trust but doesn't show very well in the picture.

steviegwood
wonderful work on that clayton. i have yet to try intarsia. it still seems so intimidating to me. maybe have to get you to give me so lessons and encouragement. how did you do the lettering in this project? i think that it would have looked good if they were walnut but again who am i to make an opinion as i have not even attempted the art and you have it down pat. steve

I was going to usu walnut but there was already alot of walnut, and I took an easy way I already had the cypress planed down. I should have used a darker wood, but when i tested it against the poplar, it was fine. The lettering does show up more than the picture shows. I thought the same about intarisia until I tried it, now it is about all I do, and I can't keep them around they sell fast. Just find a simple pattern and dive in head first.
