danny
IT HAS BEEN BROUGHT TO MY ATTENTION THAT THIS TYPE VACUUM WOULD WORK BETTER THAN THE NORMAL SHOP VAC. FOR HELPING TO CONTROL THE DUST WHILE SCROLLING. HAS ANYONE OUT THERE USED THIS METHOD? AND IF SO COULD WE READ MORE ABOUT IT? ALSO WOULD IT BE WORTH THE WHILE TO RIG UP A SYSTEM LIKE IS ALREADY OUT THERE FOR THE DEWALT 788 AND A COUPLE DEWALTS ON ANOTHER BRAND SCROLLSAW? A MICKEY MOUSE THING. hawkeye10
Danny I have not heard of this brand of vac. Just from reading the information about this vac. I can't see why it would be better than other popular vac's. I have a Ridgid shop vac that is maybe 10 years old and it's still running fine and I use it a lot. If you buy it from HD and register it they will give you a life time warranty. that is a big plus IMO. What I don't like about shop vac's in this price range is the noise they make. http://www.homedepot.com/p/RIDGID-14-gal-6-0-Peak-HP-Wet-Dry-Vac-WD1450/100081216 This is how I do my dust collection and it works pretty good. I need to line up the little fan so it will work even better. The box fan is a 20" x 20" box fan I bought at Walmart for less than $20. The little fan I had on hand but it was pretty cheap. There isn't very much noise at all. amazingkevin
Sycamore67
I think using a HEPA rated vacuum is an excellent idea to keep the fine dust contained. I would wonder about continuously running it as most are not rated for that. I will never use a fan to blow the dust away as it put too much into the air. It is always better to collect the dust at its source. danny, GrampaJim and Rolf

jamminjack
Hey Dan, For what is worth, Look into the Scrollnato. (not sure about the spelling) I purchased one and put in on a Porta Cable. I can;t believe how wonderful it works. It was originally made for 788 DW. I had to do some modifications to make it work on the Porta Cable, but I was definitely not disappointed. Steve Goode did a review on one and that's where I decided to give it a try. It is a bit pricey for what you get $ 50.00 but it works. You can shop around and probably find it a little cheeper on Amazon or Ebay. Have a blessed day. Lucky2
Dan, a regular shop-vac will work every bit as good as this one is supposed to. All you need to do, is install a dust bag in the shop-vac. You can buy different quality of bags, but even the regular one does a great job. The big negative about shop-vacs is the noise they make, I hate the sound of them. To clean the dust out of the air, you would be better off with a ceiling hung dust collector. danny
Well here is my review on this ASH VAC. Somewhat QUIETER than my regular shop vac. Comes with a bag that attaches to the top. Does not have the normal exhaust either in the back or top like normal shop vacs. Made out of Metal. On the smaller side for shop vacs. Rolls around. Not very heavy. Is Black. Comes with 3 lengths of tubing plus extras. Will figure out how to connect the Flex tubing for use on my Scroll Saw. Vac will only operate when the Dead Mans Switch is pushed. Thats it, but like another said a normal shop vac would work OK. This one being not as loud is a Plus for me.
