Hey Larry,

The easiest way to find out is to take it in for repair.  I can almost guarantee you whatever the problem

is it won;t be covered.... . Like Scrolling Steve said, Limited is a scary word.  Got to get back

to the new batch of mash now..... Now thats a scary thing.

Larry, from what I can read, the saw comes with a 5 year LIMITED warranty....The word, limited, can be a little scary !.....Good luck.

Whoe!!!! Who do I call to see where to take it. AND... since I know the problem..

The Motor of course!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Should I just order it $$$$$$$$$$$$$ and do it myself.

Dang, this is what we called "FRU's" (Field Replacement Unit's)

All scroll saws are just a couple hundred parts (FRU's) with the most important parts...costing most!

Larry, is there not a customer service number that came with your saw? I would think that Delta would have a customer service number to call, maybe not though these days. Hopefully, the address that Dan has posted will be what you need. You think the motor has gone on your saw, how come what's it doing. Could you get away with just changing out the brushes, whatever the issue is, I hope you soon get it solved.

Hey Larry, what is the problem with your saw? How do you know it's the motor? give us more information!

Saw does not turn on... Has to be circuit breaker or motor (not switch!)

I pulled a doozy. Too agressive a blade on too thick wood.

Blade got stuck ... saw quit.

Ordered new circuit breaker (40-694's don't have fuses like 40-690's).  Will replace the CB and see

Good idea, I'll check the book for a number

Brushes??? probably not,,, I don't think I could get replacements... I can order motor but brushes????

Although there are 'electric motor' repair shops near me.

You might be surprised what an electric motor repair shop can do. I have been happy with the one in our town. They work on all types of motors.

Hopefully it's just the circuit breaker. It looks like the nearest Delta service center is in Scranton. If it's not covered by the warranty, there's a good repair shop in Conklin, I think.

I have the new CB... need the gumption to put it all back together....

THere's also repair shop in Marathon.

I had a Husky compressor motor stop working so maybe I'll take both motors to 'see'

This is not addressed to any one person, but I get the impression that a good number of people on this site buy a "hobby" machine and use it as an "industrial" machine and wonder why it doesn't hold up.

I have a 40-694 and saw "when I feel like it."  Shut down for the winter because our garage isn't heated, take it apart every fall and grease it & get along fine.  Not interested in selling any of my pieces or filling orders.

Are you nice folks sure that you are not sending a boy to do a mans work?

Jerry, I 'think' I know a thing or two also,

Maybe you can afford a million dollar saw... not me.

Sorry you think that.

Not addressed to anyone....This is not addressed to any one person. HA!

I'm interested to see how well Delta support is doing now.  I think it was a little rough going right after the B&D separation.  I'm hoping they are hitting on all cylinders now.  We need all the competition/options we can get in this space.  Beyond that, I'm hoping they take a cue from Jet, and start doing some more innovative things.

Larry,

I sincerely apologize to you if I struck a nerve.  IT WAS NOT MY INTENTION !!  I have had a lot of years experience working with much heavier equipment.  My only saw is a 40-699, like yours.  It has a lot of little dinky bearings and bushings that are shipped from the factory with minimal grease.  To my limited knowledge, nobody makes a saw adequately designed to run for an extended period of time.  (Someone correct on this if it's wrong.)  I'm not qualified to know if saws selling from $900 and way up are of industrial quality.  In order for one to be that sturdy, it would need to weigh 400 pounds and have grease zerks on bearings that are 4 times the size of what people on this site use.

Again Sir, I'm truly sorry.
