stoney Posted December 3, 2016 Report Posted December 3, 2016 Just wondering if Pegas Modified Geometry blades cut thicker hardwoods better than Flying Dutchman ultra reverse blades. I have never used Pegas blades before but I'm always interested in better products. I have been cutting some projects in 1 1/4" white ash. Is there anyone out there that has used both of these blades? Quote
trackman Posted December 3, 2016 Report Posted December 3, 2016 Steve Good has a review on his blog today. Said pegas cut good on hard maple 3/4 Quote
Gonzo Posted December 4, 2016 Report Posted December 4, 2016 I use the Pegas Modified Geometry #'s 3 and 5 for anything 1/2" or thicker. My experience is that the #5 is the cats meow for inch and a half work, i.e. Bird house ornaments. Quote
Gonzo Posted December 4, 2016 Report Posted December 4, 2016 I forgot to mention that I have used the FD ultra reverse on same projects. Quote
Jim McDonald Posted December 4, 2016 Report Posted December 4, 2016 Got to agree with Gonzoon this. As much as I like FD blades, the Pegas seems to work better for me on thicker stuff. Wish I would have some when I was cutting birdhouses. Quote
Sparkey Posted December 4, 2016 Report Posted December 4, 2016 I haven't used that blade but have used pegas spiral blades and they broke more often than the FD spirals. Quote
Montserrat Posted December 4, 2016 Report Posted December 4, 2016 I just got the ultra reverse, after using Pegas Modified #5 forever. I will go back to the Pegas - much better with hard and thick wood. Quote

Sam777 Posted December 4, 2016 Report Posted December 4, 2016 Where can we buy the Pegas blades? Thanks Sam Quote
Gonzo Posted December 4, 2016 Report Posted December 4, 2016 You can get them at dndhardwoodsonline.com. Or if you have a Woodcraft store locally, you can get them there. Quote
stoney Posted December 4, 2016 Author Report Posted December 4, 2016 (edited) Thanks to everyone who has responded. I now have the information I was looking for. I'll have to order some Pegas blades and give them try. Edited December 4, 2016 by stoney Quote
