wombatie
If you have a Green EX 21 could you do me a favor and take a photo of the lower blade clamp from the left hand side please? I think I have a problem but until I see what anyone else's looks like I'm not sure what it is. I know I'm a blonde and you should all know me by now, I have to do things the hard way.    Marg Scrolling Steve

JimErn
Marg Took me a while to even find a green ex, the one I found was from the late 90's I would suggest you take a pic, explain the issue you think you have and post it here, and, send it in an email to seyco

WayneMahler
Mine is black also. I would write Ray at Seyco. Give him your model number and question. I'm sure he can answer. His email is ray@seyco.com. I just ordered a new lower clamp assembly and it was listed on the parts list there. Wished I could be of more help. wombatie
This what you need? Maybe someone can turn pictures. And tell how to turn them Thanks for that, it was exactly what I needed. Seems mine is as it should be. The blade kept coming out of the clamp even after I had wiped the blade with rubbing alcohol and rubbed it with sand paper. Plus the tension was right. Hmmmmmm back to the drawing board. Thanks again. Marg
Phantom Scroller
Try putting a bit of ummmff into it Marg when you tighten it.
woodduck
I agree with Roly Marg I have to put a fair bit of ummmff also to hold the blades, especially the smaller one's .
fredfret
Marg, Check that the very end of the thumb screw turns if not Ray has repair kits avail. If the little tip does pivot then a light sanding of the ends of the set screw and the knob should do the trick. I had to do this weekly with my dewalt ( nearly identical to the EX.). Roberta Moreton
I was having a terrible time with my EX 21 and blade slippage. Yesterday I took the set screws and thumb screws out of the blade holders, Put everything in Denatured Alcohol and wiped them off. They were very dirty. I then rubbed the faces of them on some sandpaper and reinstalled. It is much better now.
tvman44
How about the set screw on the other side of the clamp? Does it protrude into the blade slot a little?
bronx
Thanks for that, it was exactly what I needed. Seems mine is as it should be. The blade kept coming out of the clamp even after I had wiped the blade with rubbing alcohol and rubbed it with sand paper. Plus the tension was right. Hmmmmmm back to the drawing board. Thanks again. Marg This happened to me a few months back. I used blue loctite and bingo everything is okay in my scroll saw world. wombatie
Terry Jay
wombatie: Try trading positions for the set screw and the tightening one.. I put the set on my right side and the operating on on the left and cured ll the blade holding problems.
WayneMahler
Marg I just replaced the lower clamp assembly on my EX-21. Ray sells replacement parts for the contact points. It is just the set screw and the point that hits the blade when you tighten the screw. What a world of difference it made. Lesson learned on my part. May want to look into it. The parts are inexpensive. Not sure about the shipping to you though.
