How to save a post??

LarryEA

Recommended Posts

There are posts (topics) I want to save and reference later.

Like a week, a month or a year later...

Will someone please give me instructions as to how I save a post link address or whatever

for later referral.

Thank you all......

Merry Christmas

I will copy the text and a link into a word processing program.  Then I will save it as a document to a folder which contains other information on the same topic.  I usually put a reference to the original post in the document in case I want to see if more replies have been made to it.  The hard part is remembering where the copy is stored, which is why I use a folder for each topic.  Several related posts can be put into the same document.  You can also make notes in the document.

I use the browser options menu and print the whole thread to pdf, then save that pdf in a tips folder.  If you do not have a pdf printer installed, goggle for free pdf printer, cutepdf is one that I know is free and works

I dislike bookmarking since sites often get redesigned, or purged of old posts.

In the upper right corner of a post, you see what looks like a sideways "V" next to the post number.  If you click that, a popup will show up with the post URL  You can copy and paste that into a document or whatever.  You might want to add a description next to the URL so you know what it links to.   :D

Little things you'd never know unless you ask!

I like to copy and paste into a text file and then save it into a woodworking tips folder. There are several ways to save URL links, but I have discovered that these sometimes fail to bring back the information that you saved the link to. Websites frequently delete posts after a period of inactivity. I lost information from this website that I posted back when I first joined because of this. I tried to reference it in a newer post, but couldn't find or link to it.

I'll stick with copying and pasting. It's the safest way.
