Popular Post Dan
Well, after months of deciding how to do the background, I think it came out good. A lady I met at a craft show about 6 years ago and she recently asked me to make this for her front door. It's 18" in diameter all plywood. I still have some touching up to do. I did two layers on the ball, the back is 1/2" ply and the front is 1/4". The bag is 3 layers of 1/4" ply. At first she didn't want the background to be white, then when I told her I could make it look like a golf ball she changed her mind. I think she will like the color combination. Thanks for looking. Edited for clarification. Edited December 30, 2016 by Dan Kevin Latimer, tomsteve, jollyred and 8 others

woodknots
I think its more of a hole in one. I like the way the background looks as its curved on the outsides.

Lucky2
Dan, this piece is a hole in one, it's an outstanding bit of work. Not only is it cut just so, the paint job sure makes it look like a golf ball. Len

Dan
A great piece of work Dan. I would like to know how you did the stippling on the golf ball. Maybe a CNC machine? Thanks. I did a Google image search and found an image I liked and was able to create a pattern. I cut it out of 1/4" plywood. Then, I glued it to 1/2" ply and cut the outside shape. Since I was priming and painting g I didn't worry as much about glue squeezing out but there was very little to clean up.

penquin
That is super. Really like the overlay on the piece over the background. Cutting all those holes had to be a lot of work. The golf bag and clubs are a great touch and personalizing it makes it one of a kind. Thanks for showing us this goodie to enjoy. Great work. jim penquin
