olddust1
I do a lot of compound cuttings as part of my fund raising for the handicapped camp. The scrap pieces off of the cutting I trim and give them to a Head Start or other pre school class who color them and paste on a card for their parents. The kids love them and so do the teachers who talk a little about them. I get $7 each or 3 for $20. Most only take 15 to 30 minutes to cut. The Pix shows the finished compound cut in middle. The before and after trimming of scraps. The Kokopellie is from another compound cutting. bandaideman
Nicely done John and it is a good cause. I recently have been trying to use the scarps from my compound cuts. I did a bunch of reindeer to put on with sleighs and took the scraps sanded smooth put a little glitter pipe cleaner on the neck and gave to folks at a show I was at. They seemed to like them and remembered me. sorry no pix no camera. some day I hope to be closer to the youngest daughter who is about 1000 miles away right now. Lucky2
John, is this the type of cutting that gives you two different topics, when you look at the two opposing sides. Like, is this one a ballet dancer and a swan combined? I have a couple of books on this subject, and I've cut out a few different ones. The one I like the best, is the Salmon and Fly Fisherman. Others like it real well also, they are good sellers. Len

heppnerguy
I not only enjoy your work on these pieces but even more that you are donating them for a fund raiser. I do not think if I did not donate things for fund raising that i would enjoy my scrolling near as much Dick heppnerguy
Denny Knappen
What a great idea. My scraps go into the burn bucket. Now something to do with them!
heppnerguy
I burn most of mine too, but with the temperatures in the single numbers, I think I will continue to burn mine. Besides we are probably going to be moving within the year and i have so much wood that i will not be moving with us. So I may just start cutting a lot of it for firewood Dick heppnerguy
