MTCowpoke22 Posted January 9, 2017 Report Posted January 9, 2017 A grandfather asked me if I could make him a sign for his Granddaughter's tree house. I used a piece of Russian Olive scrap and finished it with a Spar Poly as it's going to be outside. First time I've used this finish, so we'll see how it lasts. Gordster Posted January 9, 2017 Report Posted January 9, 2017 Very nice..pretty sure Rose is gonna love it. I use spar on my outdoor signs and for Most part I have very good luck with it.that Is on pine wood also,so I think the olive should last well. MTCowpoke22 1 Quote

Lucky2 Posted January 10, 2017 Report Posted January 10, 2017 (edited) Tim, this is an outstanding piece of work, I'm sure Rosie's grandfather will be impressed with it. I'm a firm believer in using black for a backer color, but, sometimes I wonder if another color would be better to use. What do you think this sign would look like, if the backer color was a bright red? Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with the way it looks now. This is just me thinking out loud, and asking for your opinion? Edited January 10, 2017 by Lucky2 Quote
MTCowpoke22 Posted January 10, 2017 Author Report Posted January 10, 2017 I've used other colors before. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. He wanted it to look similar to another sign he has. It was done with a router and then the recesses were painted black, so I used black to match. I think it'd look good with Red too. Quote
meflick Posted January 11, 2017 Report Posted January 11, 2017 Very nice looking sign that I am sure Rose will love hanging at her place. Thanks for sharing. Quote
