trackman Posted January 13, 2017 Report Posted January 13, 2017 Ok I gave the Modified Geometry #5 a try today. A lot of you said they are good and you are right! I tried it out on a 3/4" purple heart puzzle. Thinking if they cut this they will cut anything. Cuts like I was cutting into 1/2" popular. Could not get over how fast it when thru the wood! Doesn't seen to have as much draft on the blade as the FDs do. This took a little time to get use to not feeding the wood in the same angle as I am use to. But is going to be my go to blade for compound and thick wood. Scrolling Steve and Sam777 2 Quote
orangeman Posted January 14, 2017 Report Posted January 14, 2017 My go-to blade as well. I order by the gross from D&D. bb Quote
Lucky2 Posted January 14, 2017 Report Posted January 14, 2017 I've never tried them, there's no need for me to. I'm perfectly happy with FD blades, they've cut everything I've ever wanted them to. . Len SCROLLSAW703 1 Quote
Gonzo Posted January 14, 2017 Report Posted January 14, 2017 My go to also. Ya gotta try the MG 3's, 2/0's, and the 1's. As Tim the Toolman Taylor would say, "oh oh oh oh oh". Quote
stu Posted January 14, 2017 Report Posted January 14, 2017 (edited) Never tried just ordered a gross from sawbird I have to try Edited January 14, 2017 by stu Quote

Don't get me wrong I'm not knocking FD blades but I have to admit for thick hardwoods Pegas modified geometry blades do work better. There is cutting and then there is cutting more efficiently and these blades do just that. IMHO Edited January 15, 2017 by stoney Lucky2 1 Quote
WayneMahler Posted January 14, 2017 Report Posted January 14, 2017 Thanks for the great review. Might have to give them a try after reading all these comments. Quote
heppnerguy Posted January 15, 2017 Report Posted January 15, 2017 Len, You are sounding like me. I usually resist trying new things but sometime when I get over the feeling that i am already have discovered the best way to do something and for some unknown reason, later I do try something different, I think "wallah, now I know i have everything figured out for sure." I remember this happened when I was using blue painters tape and gluing my patterns on top of that.. I was so happy with that, that I was never going to listen to anyone else's suggestions because I knew I had it all figured out.. I no longer use this pattern method because i now do it the very best way possible." Dick heppnerguy Quote

orangeman Posted January 26, 2017 Report Posted January 26, 2017 I switched from FD blades to the Pegas blades some months ago. What a difference on 3/4" hardwoods! Cuts like butter compared tot he FD blades. I have probably 3 gross of the FD blades which I give away to anyone in our woodworking club that wants to get started scrolling. I still use the FD puzzle blade on 1/4" Baltic Birch and haven't found a good substitute. Quote
djhwoodwerks Posted January 27, 2017 Report Posted January 27, 2017 I just spent almost 10 minutes trying to order some blades from sawbird, I would select 3 dozen of the blade I wanted, click add to cart and the next page keeps saying, "no item selected". MAybe there's a glitch, I'll try again later. Quote
