Sold on Pegas

Ok I gave the Modified Geometry #5 a try today.  A lot of you said they are good and you are right!  I tried it out on a 3/4" purple heart puzzle.  Thinking if they cut this they will cut anything.  Cuts like I was cutting into 1/2" popular.  Could not get over how fast it when thru the wood!  Doesn't seen to have as much draft on the blade as the FDs do.  This took a little time to get use to not feeding the wood in the same angle as I am use to.  But is going to be my go to blade for compound and thick wood.

I've never tried them, there's no need for me to. I'm perfectly happy with FD blades, they've cut everything I've ever wanted them to.

Oh no not another SS blade to try.      Does it ever end?

I guess that is the blade to try, but I have several grosses of olson's to use first.

Yeah Len I thought the same thing but decided to try them and I'm glad I did.   Don't get me wrong I'm not knocking FD blades but I have to admit for thick hardwoods Pegas modified geometry blades do work better.   There is cutting and then there is cutting more efficiently and these blades do just that. IMHO

Len, You are sounding like me. I usually resist trying new things but sometime when I get over the feeling that i am already have discovered the best way to do something and for some unknown reason, later I do try something different, I think "wallah, now I know i have everything figured out for sure."  I remember this happened when I was using blue painters tape and gluing my patterns on top of that.. I was so happy with that, that I  was never going to listen to anyone else's suggestions because I knew I had it all figured out.. I no longer use this pattern method because i now do it the very best way possible."

I ordered some #3-5-7's 3 dozen each. If they help make me better it will be worth it.

The very best way possible ?? do tell please because I am still using blue tape and spray gluing my patterns over that

I switched from FD blades to the Pegas blades some months ago. What a difference on 3/4" hardwoods! Cuts like butter compared tot he FD blades.

 

I have probably 3 gross of the FD blades which I give away to anyone in our woodworking club that wants to get started scrolling.

 

I still use the FD puzzle blade on 1/4" Baltic Birch and haven't found a good substitute.

I just spent almost 10 minutes trying to order some blades from sawbird, I would select 3 dozen of the blade I wanted, click add to cart and the next page keeps saying, "no item selected". MAybe there's a glitch, I'll try again later.
