worbler
Hi All, Thought I'd try something different this weekend and this is how it ended up. Tried to simulate a wood grain, in a segmentation piece, using Gesso. This is cut from 6mm MDF, coated with Gesso and then painted. After the paint dried I gave it a light sand and a little coat of sealer, put it on a backing board and that's it. wombatie

EarltheScroller
Great job. I am working on a large wood carving project and the author of the plans uses Gesso for undercoating all his work. Most recommend shellac, spray varnish, linseed oil, etc. I'm finding the Gesso does make a superior undercoating. There is a reason that paint artists have been using it for a 100 years for undercoating. You have just proven again that it works. Well done!
