ike
about 3 weeks ago I posted that my saw quit running then started up again then stopped again. I checked the speed control , power switch, the main board didn't show any problems and I couldn't smell anything at the motor , The brushes were good, so i took it to the repair shop and today I called them and the motor was bad and it is on order, My bill will be almost 1/2 the price of a new saw. I figure that I have about 1300 hours on it, so i guess that is pretty good. IKE Scrappile

ike
My backup saw bit the dust but the weather hasn't been too cold for me to work, my shop isn't heated, and when I can get into the shop I have been cleaning.IKE
heppnerguy
Really sorry to hear you had such a spendy problem. Some time parts for a unit are way over priced but do not leave us with very many choices.. At least the wait time is during a down time for you...... DWSUDEKUM
Ike the Dewalt has a design flaw in my opinion with the motor. The carbon brushes are soft carbon and when the motor runs it of course makes carbon dust out of the brushes. The motor has no where for the carbon dust to go and the carbon dust is conductive, this can short out your motor over time. If they would put a little harder carbon brush in the motor this would not happen as often. Did you use the GRP ( Guaranteed Repair Price ) program that Dewalt has? orangeman
cost of repair should only be $249 at a DeWalt Service Center. make sure they look at everything inside too. might need new internal parts which would be covered under the $249 plan. bb

IKE Yeah their in business to make money .funny all the time i have on my dewalts I've never had electrical problems?Just lack of grease or a screw falling out or shiny blade holders that need sanding.I've had two dewalt repairs made on other tools and never used them right away .finally i did use them and shortly after the problem was back again on both machines.Guess minimum wages answers that question.
