ike
My saw has been in the shop for the past 7 weeks The motor went out on it.I didn't know what was the problem with it so I sent it to the DeWalt repair shop. Thee said it would be done in 3 to 4 weeks. A week later I called them again the motor had came in and he would get it the first of next week( week #5) I called again and they said next week, I called them again on Wednesday they said they didn't know when they could get to it. So I contacted Dewalt on the internet and that the service department would get in contact with me So late on Friday I called the service center and they was sorry about the time it took but a company repair man was coming in Tuesday and It would be the first thing he got to. The sales girl said that since it took so long that she wouldn't charge many thing. That's Bull it was Dewalt that told her NO CHARGE Tomarrow I willl start on my April sale. Scrappile
Frustrating for sure, but new motor, you save quite a bit of money. I do not understand the poor customer service given these days.

bandaideman
Sorry for all the trouble. I noticed on mine early last summer that the cap was off the fuse but it was working. I didn't like it open like that and so ordered a new fuse assay. the number of the part had been changed I was told at the dewalt service center and they ordered if for me. the main reason I had them order it is because then I did not have shipping. the part was around 10 bucks. It was 3 weeks to get it in. I called and found out the order was not placed and then it was another week. Went to take the old one out but could not get it out. The fuse was fine it was running. I took the whole machine down to the center when I went to pick up the part so the service man could show me how. Well he got the old one out alright and when he went to put the new one (free) so I let him. He found out that they had not only changed the number of the part but changed the design and size of the part. He had to take the machine apart to get to the wiring and when done the assay was too small and sort of hung out of the hole it should have snapped in. I had him change it back and have black tape over the opening and it is running fine. He also thought my motor was dead because it would run a while then stop and when set a while work again. But with the motor at about 250 dollars I was not going to do that. I got the machine for 300 on sale. Well it is still running so I will keep working with it and I have a Ex 21 as well. Knock on wood.
ike
I think what got it free for me was I told Dewalt that this makes me feel like not buying this brand again. I did go and buy a porter Cable and thought I would use it for back up but it vibrated and I could not make a puzzle with it out of 1/4 stock with out it breaking so I took it back to Lowe's and got a refund they didn't like it but that was in the guarantee to refund your money with no questions ask but they ask and I told them it was junk. David Lehner
Good to hear your saw is back in working order. I guess I am a collector or hoarder.... if I see a good deal on Dewalt saws I grab it so I have a spare(s) .... but I guess I am lucky as I have only had minor repairs to do that I can do myself... I do keep some extra parts on hand just in case. That has been helpful to others in town who need parts and know I have some.

Rolf
Glad you are back in business, I hate when I get the run around. Tell me 6 weeks then do it 5, I am happy tell me 1 week do it 5, not happy. Companies like Dewalt depend on their local repair centers. If you are lucky you get one that has competent techs that are not intimidated by what they are repairing. They probably don't get too many Scroll saws. I am fortunate that, thanks to my upbringing and careers, I can fix or repair almost anything myself. If the parts are still available.
