Scrolling Steve
Randy, as long as the refurbished saw has the New saw warranty it would be worth a chance IMHO !
Scrappile
I have several "refurbished" tools and the DeWalt scroll saw I had was refurbished. I have never had a problem with any refurbished tool I have purchased to date. That being said I have never had a refurbished Delta tool. Mine were DeWalt and Makita. WayneMahler
Normally refurbished by the manufacturer comes with a 1 year warranty. Worth checking to be sure though.
bandaideman
I have purchased Dewalt orbital sander and trim size router refurbished. I am happy with them and the price. I wore out the disc pad on the sander and have replaced it without problem.

kmmcrafts
I think dang near every tool in my shop is refurbished.. Most are getting quite old now too and never a problem yet.. Only new tools are the Dewalt scroll saw and the Grizzly band saw.. All, sanders, my old scroll saw ( dremel ) miter saw cordless drills etc.. all refurbs.. and my Dewalt would have been a refurb too but I bought it from grizzly during a sale and it was priced slightly below what the refub was so I went new.. My ryobi planer is a refurb and I've run the snot out of it..and it's about 8-10 years old.. though last couple times I used it I thought it was sounding funny ( motor ).. but... I got my $100 out of it a long time ago.. yeah thats right $100 from a outlet store.. don't normally go to those but it was on a vacation trip low and behold they had a tool store that I almost bought one of everything, LOL I wouldn't be scared to buy refurbished as long as the price points and warranty are decent.. which most times they are.. amazingkevin
Scrappile
Think about it, a lot of "refurbished" tools are returned to the store tools, they are checked, tested completely before being put up for sale as "refurbished", more than you can say for a new tool right out of the box... The ones returned because they were broke or didn't work properly are repaired and checked, tested completely before resale as "refurbished". Anytime I need a tool anymore I look for "refurbished" first. I believe the 180 day warranty Is correct, at least on the ones I purchased, but that has never been a factor to me. Looks at the new tools you buy that claim to has a warranty of "x" years, then try to get decent service on that warranty. The only warranty I put stock in is how long I have that I can return it to the store for my money back or a replacement. That is usually 30 days. Just my opinion. kywoodmaster
I have a refurbished belt sander and drill that are close to 30 years old and I don't baby them. With a refurbish all the problems have already been corrected.

ike
Some times the guarentee is shorter than a one for a new product, be sure before you buy. IKE
hawkeye10
Some thoughts on refurbished ? I see a delta manufacturer refurbished That would save me about. $ 90 dollars ... I buy from a company called CPO and they sell reconditioned tools as well as new tools. I bought a reconditioned router from them and it was still not right. I had one at my house the next day. I live about 30 miles east of Nashville so I am not that far but still that is great service. I turned around and shipped the router in the box that my replacement came in. They shipped me a shipping label and UPS came to the house and picked it up. This is the second time they have done this. The first time was for something else but I can't remember. http://www.cpooutlets.com/reconditioned/reconditioned,default,sc.html Edited March 2, 2017 by hawkeye10 amazingkevin
