bandaideman
Well made an error and down loaded the new version of inscape. Thanks to tutorials and the help from here I was able to use the last version. At first I could not get the script Birds of Paradise font to load in the inkscape and did not have luck with others either. Then I for some reason downloaded the earlier version 47? and had the 91 loaded at the time. After that the script showed up in both those versions and I did make 6 plaques Yeah. now that I went ahead and loaded 92.1 It is gone again. in all versions. I uninstalled everything and waited 3 days then downloaded 3 other script fonts and the Bird of Paradise was still in my Open Office and the others were also present. after down loading the script fonts remained missing in inkscape still in Open Office. BOP is in a zip file but I am not sure if it is opened or not and not sure how to do it if it isn't. fonts are coming from Dafont. Any thoughts. I should have left well enough alone. I don't know what I did when it showed up before other than download the older version. I will just use the block fonts I have . Thanks
jerry1939
Bummer. I uninstalled the old version also. Now it only allows you to download the latest, which I did. It saved all my previous fonts. I don't use inkscape much. Just some word art, intersecting word art and currently tracing a stock photo that I imported. My thoughts; Pros It seems slightly more user friendly. Haven't had it do some of the weird things that the old version had. It prints full size from inkscape. With the older one, it printed smaller, so I saved to PDF. That printed to the sized that you set on the computer. When you SAVE a pattern, it doesn't put an icon on the screen. Saves clutter on the desktop. Cons The first time I SAVED, I put it in PDF, as in the past (2 icons, svg & PDF.) I thought I lost the PDF. No icon, not in Adobe or Pictures. Wasted 5 minutes until I went into Inscape - RECENT PLACES. There they were. Svg & PDF (PDF is no longer required.) With the old icons, you clicked on the one you wanted and it opened right up (If inscape was already opened.) With the new version, OPEN RECENT - Click on what you want and you need to wait for a new inscape to load. That part is noticeably slower. Might have more thoughts later, but for now I like it. jerry WayneMahler
heppnerguy
I think I will just stay with whatever version I now have because so far I have not had any noticeable problems. Looks like it is not worth the effort to change to me..'If it ain't broken, save the Duct tape" that is my motto Dick heppnerguy smitty0312 and Phantom Scroller

KurtP
I am using version .91 and have the Birds of Paradise font installed. I am able to use the font in Inkscape. You can still download version .91 from the following webpage. You Just have to make sure you download the correct file for you operating system https://inkscape.org/en/release/0.91/platforms/

bandaideman
How do I know which version for the PC. I have Windows 10 and always was confused on whether to load bit 32 or 64. What would you suggest. Thank you for your help. I suppose it is not terrible to not have bird but it is nice but my fonts in Inscape other than Chopin Script are not script fonts. Chopin is more quite involved and not easily made for cutting. Takes time to make bridges and rid some of the large scrolling script. jerry1939
Bandaidman, Some fonts I find easier to put in bridges are; FCraft, Droid, TWeen, Asimov (Notation seems to be a bold version of Asimov, Copperhead Bold & Hollandale. I'm sure others have their own favorites. A correction to a statement I made earlier on this same page. I opened the newest version of inkscape today, I went to other sites for a while. When I got back to inkscape, when I OPENED RECENT, it popped right up without waiting. jerry
