hawkeye10
I can find a lot of places to buy peel and stick felt but I want some high quality felt. Can any one recommend some high quality felt?
Dan
I'm not sure what you mean by high quality but I bought some at Walmart to use as backing and it has been fine.
JTTHECLOCKMAN
I believe they are just about all equal when it comes to peel and stick felt. I have tried Michaels, Hobby Lobby, Ac Moore and Walmarts. They are are equal in my eyes and I buy from whoever is closest to when I need it. Prices are just about the same. Now if you are talking about felt that is larger in size and has no sticky back then that is something else. I buy that from a true material dealer or store. I have a few in my area that sells material for dresses, curtains and things of that nature. You buy it by the yard. I use for various projects. I use 3M 77 spray adhesive to secure it. The weave is tight and strong. You can easily see the difference side by side with the sticky back stuff. I have also bought from these people and like the product. www.dickblick.com/products/quick-stick-felt/ Now if you are talking about velvet. This is a totally different topic. By far hands down the best velvet I found is here and just used it on my Gamblers clock /pen holder I shown here. Thickness and quality is so much better than any hobby store. www.rockler.com/self-adhesive-velvet-choose-velvet-color Edited April 2, 2017 by JTTHECLOCKMAN AK Moose Nugget
edward
I use felt all the time for my backers, and use 77 spray adhesive and works well, I find some of the stores like Michaels and AC More are doing away with it, and what they have left they raised the price, guess I have to find a new source. edward
Scrappile
Got some from JoAnn's. I have only used it a couple times so nothing to compare it to. But what I had worked well.
trackman
I used 3m 77 to hold colored paper as a backer but it came unstuck. You have any trouble holding the felt?

I have tried the peel and stick from two places and didn't like either. I want it to be of a heavier weight, like more dense. I want it to put on the bottom of some crosses I have made. I don't mind sticking it on. If you or any one else has a link to some good felt I would appreciate y'all posting it.
JTTHECLOCKMAN
Don, as far as non stick felt you can get better quality as I mentioned in a material outlet store. The one I have sells good quality. Now you want to take the next step up buy pool table cloth. Really heavy weight and top quality. amazingkevin

NC Scroller
I used 3m 77 to hold colored paper as a backer but it came unstuck. You have any trouble holding the felt? I make lots of paper to wood permanent attachments with my card puzzles. 3M Super 77 is all I use now. Tried others but not happy with the results. For a true permanent attachment step one is to take a dry clean paper towel and wipe any dust, pollen or other residue off the wood and paper. Step two is to apply a light but even coat of spray to both the wood and the paper. Step three is to press together immediately. Step four is to put a flat piece of wood or other hard material over the entire area and put a weight on it for about 30 minutes. For a weight I normally use a full quart can of paint. trackman
I did everything you said to do but putting spray on the wood & paper. I just sprayed on the wood. That is were I must have gone wrong.

Can any one recommend some high quality felt? I have never used peel and stick felt I buy felt from JoAnn's Fabrics or Hobby Lobby by the yard and cut the pieces I need .... Many times at JoAnn's Fabrics using my wife's coupons I can save 50-60%. I have about 5-6 colors I use Black, Navy Blue, Dark Green, 2 shades of Dark Brown and Burgandy...unless I see a unique color I want to try There are different quality felt but for backing my projects the quality does not come into play I sometimes use spray adhesive but usually Eileen's Tacky Glue Edited April 4, 2017 by The Scroll Troll

I guess it might hold up okay, what do you think? Depending on the piece.... some I use felt on the bottom.. I have used felt dots On most of my desk clocks, If I don't use felt, I will add "feet" to the bottom of the clock as shown in this picture. I have a selection of buttons and knobs I use as feet. they are unfinished so can be stained to match the project. all types available from Bearwoods. But if I put felt on a piece I still cut it to fit from a larger piece and glue it on. Edited April 5, 2017 by The Scroll Troll

Tommy Johnson
www,cherrytreetoys.com sells it also. Plus they also sell it by the foot and it is 12" wide!
David Lehner
When I buy felt from Joann's fabrics or Hobby Lobby it is sold by the yard.... each roll is 36 inches wide... sometimes wider. a couple yards gets a piece 36 inches wide by 72 inches long .... a lot to works with for $10 to $15 depending on sale prices and a wide variety of colors. when I am framing pictures (usually 8x10 or 11x14 I will pre-cut a lot of pieces . Trka2002
This is the first project I have ever done with felt. (Sorry photo isn't that great) applied it with spray adhesive and I think it worked great. I got it at Walmart along with some other colors. Not to many store options here in the middle of nowhere Arkansas.

I use to dove hunt in a lot of the subdivisions in this town. Not now.
